Right you 'orrible lot ... I've picked that up from the Brits :) so diplomatic in their approach don't you think ;)

I'm back for a while so I thought I'd set up a little study into any problems that we find irritating or unacceptable about the bike. We could do a good points bad points analysis but I think that may be a step too far.

Anyway ... I think it should take the form of a database so as not clutter the forum generally. What d'ya fink.

Please do not mention them here though as the thread will go all over the place.

Sounds good, maybe a, "what we would like to see in Tenere v2.0" vs. Bitching about something we already own. Just my 2 cents.

I know what you're saying. It won't be a bitchin' exercise more a record to inform current would be owners of the bike of it's little 'characteristics'. It should indicate if there is a trend etc. and what can be done to rectify and remedy the issue.

Gotchya! Maybe structure the database as sort of "Ask the Dr." If a standard format was used to post the symptoms, it would make it easier to scan the database for the specific "virus" your Tenere is experiencing. I think this would be very helpful.

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe a link to a specific post that deals with the cure.?

most people don't have anything wrong with their bikes until they read about peoples moans about stuff (usually on a forum) then its a problem for them too! I'm be positive and remember one thing.......

unlike my GS's (both of them) I'll probably never have to fit a new final drive to my bike :D

I like the idea! Not just to complain about something, but document refinements we would like. I was just thinking of a few on the way home from work yesterday! :D

I too like the idea of it also being a wish list so we can let Yamaha know what we think needs to be added, deleted or changed. I have a couple of things I would tell them already. Don't get me wrong, nothing major mind you! O:)

Th first thing I can think of is how easily the side stand can be retracted. I always park my bike in gear except when in the garage but I know others that dont and I can see this bike rolling off the side stand with ease. Seems like a detent or something similar to what Harley does with theirs would be an easy fix for this potential problem.

+1. This makes me nervous every time I park it.

we have not noticed any problems with the side stands but we do get a lot of harley rides in here looking at bikes who seem to worry about side stands on anything they pick up, i guess without that little safety blanket harley built in to their bikes for their customers they feel worried ;)

I'm not a Harley rider but I've never had a bike with a sidestand that retracts this easily.
I can flip it up easily with 2 fingers.

When the bike is sitting on the side stand you can flip it up with two fingers?

here's a test anybody can do, place your bike on the side stand and see how much effort it takes to push it off the stand without standing it up, i cant see why the stand being easy to flip up once the bike is stood up being a problem, if it was easy to push off the stand i get it but being too easy to flip up!

seriously?

I have noticed that as well. The sidestand will go up in a strong wind. Doesn't take much. Not quite sure why but maybe there is a reason. I'm used to it now so I don't think too much about it, but it does seem a little strange. Maybe the spring will weaken over time. R

<<<<seriously?>>>>

yes seriously,
I'll bet it becomes an issue for some.

But if that all I can find fault with so far, I dont have much to complain about.
