Every mile I get to ride the Tenere is total comfort and enjoyment.
Sir You are my hero... If you are ever in Edmonton Alberta with your Tenere Please msg me so I can meet you and hear about your trails. My mind is blown with the mileage you have on your bike. I hope that one day when I am retired (which I hope I wont be 65 by then) I can ride all over as you have.

Unreal stories you have posted about on your ventures too.

Ride safe

Normal day is between 300 and 500 miles depending on the type of roads and how twisty the routes are. This pace gives [me] enough time to stop and enjoy the sights while still getting in at a reasonable hour...and before critters come out.

Farthest day:

Sorry...on my FJR, ride report here: http://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/158510-border-to-border-insanity/

Well done sir. I was gonna ask "define day?" I did a 50CC last year on my Super Tenere and in the process of registering that ride discovered I had done a Saddle Sore 2000 (in addition to a Saddle Sore and Bun Burner) Didn't even know the category was out there. >2000 miles / 24 hours.

Yep, I qualify for stoopid.

That's major seat time.

Missed this post 'till today. Yes, and the only one of my partners and I that did not kidney stones. I'm sure you are well aware of easy it is to dehydrate in the summer. My ST1300's temperature display would flash 122*. I never said I was smart/sane.

You must mean 2000 miles in less than 48 hours? Not 24? 2000 in 24hrs would be nearly 84mph average even including stops for gas. This would be fairly difficult. A few guys have accomplished the 1800+ miles in 24hrs in the BBG IBA ride. 1800 miles would be 75mph average even with stops. Not an easy task.

You are correct sir! Not paying close enough attention, it was 48. Regardless, it was a bitch!

The farthest I've made it in a day of riding was 800 miles. But not for lack of trying. I was attempting an Iron butt on my way home from Florida. Got caught in a massive storm early in the morning, then got caught in major traffic from Montgomery to Birmingham Alabama. Had to call it quits around 800 miles in because I was simply too tired to ride safely. I'm glad I stopped. The Iron butt isn't worth dying for. I'll give it another shot soon.

I've kept going through some pretty awful weather. Slow down, hazards on if you have them. But traffic is the deal breaker. You're just flat stuck and nothing you can do. And it seems like it is always hotter than heck too when it happens.

And the is no milestone IBA or otherwise worth risking your neck for. If you have the time, pull in and take a nap. If not, wave it off, there's always another day to try.

800 is a plenty long day in anyone's book.

To me distance is irrelevant - it's about time.

I can comfortably ride for 10-12 hours a day only stopping ones in a while to refuel, grab a bite, a drink and a smoke - maybe 1-2 hours off the bike in total.
I have done a few 15 hours days and after that long it's a relief to get off the bike in the evening - but the next day I'm ready to spend another day in the saddle.

How far I ride in a day like that varies a lot.
On small back roads in the mountains it can accumulate to less than 400 km (of pure fun) while on the Autobahn with no speed limit +1500 km is doable (but boring).
Weather obvious also play a vital role in the equation. Rain and cold effect the speed and the need/desire for more frequent and longer breaks during the day...

One of the reasons I started riding on the street was because I could lane share in California. I am a proponent of it not only to benefit me, but to reduce overall congestion. That being said, I think living in the west makes it a lot easier to complete a SS1000 (or more) due to the wider distances between cities. I did mine traveling from Phoenix to Vegas to Denver, and finished in 17.5 hours, and could have gone longer.

Almost 1100 miles from Columbus, Oh. to St. Pete, Fl. on my 2015 ST. It was a long day but actually fairly comfortable.
