I usually NEVER buy as they typically don't pay to cost effectiveness.

I bought a Suzuki, underwritten Corner Stone United policy for $1200.

Policy period if for 4 years ( 5 including Yamaha warranty ). No mileage limit was indicated. Policy only good in USA & CAN.

I asked about Yamaha Factory Policy as I plan on traveling south ( very far south ) and the shop promoted this policy over Yamaha. They "thought," Yamaha policy would only be good in USA - CAN also.

Any thoughts? I will travel WORLD WIDE.

I've modded the heck out of my bike, but those mods are the ones I'm not concerned about failing. It's drivetrain internals and the like that are labor intensive that I bought it for. i got the 4 yr through ET like most about when my factory 1 year was ending.

My dealer tried selling me a off-brand policy for $1,300. After doing some research, I requested Y.E.S. for the going rate of $600. Then again, I don't plan on doing much riding outside the U.S. You gotta wonder, even if you did buy a policy that covers you in central or south America, who's to say they'll honer it down south when you really need it?

I bought the non YES warranty, it was part of my negotiation for the bike. I knew, based on the cost of this bike, I'd be buying it for the long term; and I wanted the peace of mind of knowing I'd pretty much never have to cover a non maintenance repair during my loan period.

I generally stay away from extended warranties. This time, I bought the yes 4 yr warranty. My S10 has a great reliability record but it does have some high dollar parts. I can ride with assurance in the US that Yamaha will repair any major malfunctions with no additional cost. I plan to ride, ride, ride!

Any warranty is only as good as your dealer wants it to be. If your dealer wont stand up for you, claims will be denied.
My warranty experience with 40 years of bike ownership has been mostly good.
I purchased the Yamaha extended warranty for the added bike resale value, I normally only keep a bike 2 or 3 years.

The dealer gets paid the same whether its the YES warranty or the original warranty. Any dealer that tells you they don't want your warranty work doesn't want YOU.
