Anyone know why European zippers start on the left? Very counterintuitive. I bought a very sweet Spidi Ergo 5 jacket and the Euro zipper is the only small complaint. Probably the finest jacket I have ever owned.

I have often wondered why American zippers start on the right. Also very counterintuitive. ::015:: Some people actually drive (legaly) on the left side of the road

It is an Italian company and they drive on the right side of the road and are above the equator. It's got to be something else.

This is one of those old ice breakers to get a girl talking. It's gotta go back to the side that the buttons are on, because the zipper isn't that old & is an American invention. As for the buttons, I've heard different theories over the years, all of which sound made up. Stuff like:

Europeans had servants dress them and the servants were generally right handed. Yeah, but men & women have them on different sides, so huh???

Men got it on the right because it's more natural and it's easier for a woman to hold a baby with the right and unbutton with the left. Yeah, but ALL women's clothes are made because at some point they may be breastfeeding? Really???

Beats me & really don't care much.
