Recall complete, dealer advised still getting code 19. They're saying the ignition switch is failing. Up to at least $460 to replace, and would have a different key
. May just spray with a bunch of WD-40 or ACF-50 in a desperate attempt to fix. Oh, and there's only one switch available, and it's on the other side of the country.
Code 19 is nothing to do with the ignition switch. BTW resist spraying WD40 down a lock barrel, if that was the plan, use graphite lock lube.
If we are to believe the self diagnostics from the ECU, it just has to be the side-stand &/or clutch switch, or their attendant wiring. Are you certain that the side-stand switch is good? The symptoms you describe are just what can happen in my experience; I think of it as if the contacts within the switch aren't making a firm, clean contact, which tricks the bike into thinking the SS is being deployed randomly. In the extreme it cuts the ignition, unless you are in neutral. Then, if the engine cuts & the SS is used whilst head scratching at the roadside, the bike restarts, you flick up the SS & off you go again, until next time the contacts bounce/fail. Then there is the wiring, some of which is exposed - has this been checked out thoroughly? Next comes the clutch switch, which again is exposed to the elements - this usually shows itself when you can't start the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in - really annoying if you stall in traffic - but of course has an inter-dependency with the SS switch.
I suggest you/your dealer focus on these two regular culprits before launching off into the unknown. If the ignition switch is failing, I would expect you to lose the dash info, as we see on GSs quite regularly, but I can't recall this being mentioned here.
Good luck.
