Engine Noise

I hear /feel a noise from an engine when I go over 140km/h . I am not much of a technical guy but it sounds like cooling fan is being activated. It feels like when we had the old cars and run the A/C that slows the car..has any one experienced this?

Doubt you'd hear the fan at this speed, although anything is possible. (The fan on my bike has a very high-pitched whine.) And the fan only runs when the bike is at slow speeds - once the bike is moving at a good clip, it seems to have plenty of cooling headroom.

Any further ID of the sound? Does it change pitch with speed? Does it go away if you pull the clutch and coast?

Well I have talked to some one who had an S10 , he said that he hears pistons noise, I dont know what that means? I dont know how to describe it but it only comes after 140km/h and if I pull a clutch it goes away

With the quite pipe and the good fairing there is little wind or exhaust noise so yes now you hear the engine parts. After a while you will get acustume to each sound and it will be normal. Mine has a gear whine in top gear but not in 5th. Also a squille like a belt sqweek when it is cold as I ride out of my nieborhood.

Its under warranty, RIDE IT!

This bike comes up to speed pretty fast - I hit the rev limiter once ;D and when I looked down at the speedomenter, I was over 90 mph. Good thing there was a light up ahead that forced my deceleration ??? I think the engine is now broken in.

I too am picking up a gear whine. Was hoping it was a tire howl, goes away off throttle though. I've lived with a howling Royal Star for 110k, this is nothing. I'm thinking the gear howl might be what the OP is picking up, that's where I hear it, higher up.

I fixed all the Ural engine noise by wearing my Etymotic head phones and my I-pod..... ::013::

may be I am hearing the gear wine.. no biggie but i just wanted to know what was it.

and I am super happy with my S10 8)
