This morning on the way to work the yellow engine management light of death came on whilst decelerating to turn at a junction.
(2010 model, 26,000miles, Engine Temp was at 71 degrees, oil is at the correct level, rider fully hydrated, sun was shining & bike up to then felt okay).
Stopped in a lay-by and turned the ignition off... Turned ignition back on and it started after a couple of splutters... engine management light came back on.
Rode it slowly back home, but noticed that if I accelerated gently the light went out, as soon as I backed off on the throttle the light came back on with the bike lurching as the light went on and off.
It progressively got worse in the last 1/2 mile of getting home... at a steady 30mph the bike was picking up revs then dropping down again until it finally stalled & died as I turned onto my driveway.
I haven't checked anything yet on the bike as I just parked it in the garage and jumped on my old XT600 and set of for work again.
Throttle Position Sensor I'm thinking?
Anyone got any other causes or ideas? It would be most appreciated! Cheers!
