Who can tell me what that beautiful finish is on the Yamaha Super Tenere engine? Is it paint? Is is plated?

And how does one repair a scratch in that beautiful finish? ::025::

Thank you!

Repair a scratch? Just cover it with dirt, nobody will notice.

It's a sorta gun-metal gray paint. Seems reasonably durable, although you'd have to be a fanatic if you want to keep it looking like new - over time it gets looking a little ratty like most engine paint (although not as bad as most black engines). Scratches certainly occur, but you really don't notice them. I wash the bike and what is left is patina.

Many use a product called ACF 50 on their engine to help keep it looking like new.
Have you used the ACF-50 yourself? It looks like it can be applied with a paint sprayer. Do you know if it can be applied with a handheld spritz bottle similar to a windex bottle?

I use ACF-50 on the bike in the winter lots of salt and sand on our Ontario roads. I would NOT use a hand sprayer you need to use a paint sprayer. Take of the seat, cover the brakes with rags and then cover the bike with a tarp or blanket and spray under the tarp. And wipe off excess oil with amazing results.

No not myself but I have worked in Aviation and they used it on everything. You can purchase it in a normal spray can and just follow the application instructions on the can. I plan on ordering some myself.

I have used the spray cans and in my opinion, they waste a lot of product. I ordered the 32 oz and you get a pump spray with it. The spray bottle is not bad for touch ups. I use a detail spray gun and it is really the best way of applying with less waste. The spray is very fine and will cover without running.
