A search turns up a few snippets.... but nothing really firm. I can't find them on the bike, or any mention in the owner's manual. Really? Seriously? None? Is that even legal? Is one of those emoticons for "dumbfounded"? How about "incredulous"?

This is the 1st bike I've had without them... but I have friends that say it's somewhat common.

I think that the wiring is there. I'm thinking about purchasing a European handlebar switch set with the emergency flashers and flash to pass buttons and see if I can just hook them up? I haven't seen the North American Tenere shop manual, yet, but I would bet that the wiring harness is the same as the European model. Especially since I read where guys who put the LED turn signals on their European models noted that there was a blue running light wire on their turn signal wiring harness, but that running lights were not operative on them. I may have to also purchase the handlebar switch set wiring harness, but if it hooks up to the same relays, with the same plugs, then voila, flashers and flash to pass! Any thoughts?

I'm just glad to know I'm not stupid.... was beginning to wonder.

I can live with it. As Mellow put it, now I think about it, my DR-Z probably didn't have them... but I viewed it as a street legal dirt bike, not a street bike that could do a little dirt.

you're not alone. i searched for the switch for a while and finally gave up thinking i must be a dolt. ;)

i can live without them, but i would prefer to have hazards available just in case i'm fixing a flat on the side of the road or want to say "thanks" to a trucker for being polite. if the wiring harness is available from yamaha, i'll find a place for the switch.

Looking at the non-north american wiring diagram, it appears that the 'hazard circuit' & 'flash to pass' circuit are all acomplished in the handle bar switch housing. So it appears you could simply install a euro switch and have those two functions with out any rewiring, assuming the switch harness connector is the same as the north american models.

Can any of our euro friends provide a pic of the left handle bar switch harness connector?

My '05 KLR had what we have. I purchased a Euro switch and had; Flash to Pass; Parking Lights; Lights Off; though no 4-way Flasher.

$250 is a lot but the Euro switch is what should have come on a $14K motorcycle. Jaxson can you offer these switches at a better price?

The other thing that this bike is missing is the parking setting on the ignition. There is no way to just turn on the parking lights in front and tail light with out turning the bike on the run setting on the ignition. My old bikes had this setting if you were stopped you could turn the key and just have the tail light on with the hazards. I think the Euro bike had this feature also. These simple features should be DOT regulation in the states. You would think they would come with the bike for the cost of it, but the bike does have a lot of other great safety features for a lot less than other bikes.

In my experience, that "park" position has caused more dead batteries than any other single factor. I've inadvertently left the ignition in this position when parking the bike for the night (and have known many others that have done the same) - only to go out the next morning to a dead battery.

Too funny - and too right. One of the old MSF instructors I used to teach with always said "the Park position is for when you bike won't run and you have to leave it parked beside the road so no one will have any trouble stealing it".

Oh, would you stop alreay?! ;D Search for another bike with dual-mode TCS, Fly by wire throttle with 2 throttle response settings, great factory suspension and handles a pillion with ease..your price limit is 14K. I predict you will come-out with a big fat ZERO. ::002:: If you had to pay the price I paid, maybe you would want it to hover? ::025::

From what I understand you are correct.. Its a plug & play set up... The housing are expensive though....

Are you looking for a factory looking set up? Or a few switches to get the job done? Ive spoke to several people about it and it shouldn't be that hard to to do. I need to get a US service book to look at the wiring schematics to double check my thoughts. But it can be done... PM or Email me and we can go from there.. I might do a write up on it and just post it so others can do it if they like........... ::008::

I have come across something that the factory Euro switch housing will work and from what I understand (not 100%) they will plug right in and we will have the functions. The best of my memory the housings are expensive each. Maybe someone reading this Europe can check there Yamaha parts house to check on the price for us USA guys......

I had emergency flashers on my VFR and used them often, especially when riding in groups (good for being sweep). On the VFR the flasher control was on the throttle side, it was a toggle type switch. Only the Euro bikes had the flash to pass on the clutch side.

Is the ST Euro flasher & flash to pass both on the clutch side? Or would you need both sides to have both options? Are only the US bikes left out or all North American bikes?

I would like to add this if it truly is a plug and play deal.
