Where can i find details on what parts of a flash impact Cruise control? Like a diagram or something?

I know cruise can be impacted by a lot of things. Clutch switch, ABS wheel sensors, brake switch (front and rear), Throttle position, .......

But I've read that an ECU can impact Cruise working/not working. The person that flashed mine says nothing done in the ECU Flash impacts Cruise control.
Yet:

1) It was not working when i damaged headers
2) Was working when flashed, before replacing damaged headers
3) replaced Air filter with K&N. Not working
4) replaced with new Arrow headers Not working

I've checked all the switches and they all appear in working order, also checked ECU Diagnostic codes. So what the Hell is causing my cruise not to SET? Very Frustrated.

There are different ways to make a flash. One of them consists of removing files and loading new ones. There are versions of the S10, which did not come with cruise control, but they share with the current one everything related to injection, ignition, ABS, and some other things. “MAYBE”…if the flash they ran was just “copy and paste”…maybe pasted the files from an S10 without CC

So are you saying that it is unlikely the flash impacted Cruise control unless they copied a Flash file from a non CC bike? So as long as they selected the correct model of bike, it accounts for cruise control?

And how do you know that they selected the correct model of bike?….they may have made a mistake….There are people who underwent an operation to remove the right kidney due to a tumor….and the surgeon removed the left one, which was healthy… .even at that level mistakes are made….
The best way to rule out or blame the flash would be to go back to the beginning, before the flash...

What year is your Bike?
There is a recall on certain 2014-Up bikes for the front brake switch. (at least on the US spec bikes)
The issue affected the cruise control, and was an intermittent problem........... some had it, some didn't.
My 2014 did not have an issue, but I received notice that my VIN number was part of the recall.
I took it to Vickery Motorsports and they replaced the front brake switch with the updated part.

I'm not sure if Canada bikes are part of the recall or not? but it wouldn't hurt to check?

A while back my cruise started to drop out. It was the rear brake sticking so I replaced the pads and lubricated the guides and the problem went away. It's worth checking that the brakes are in good shape to rule out one other thing that could effect proper cruise operations.

To answer another post above: Yes Canadian bikes are subject to the brake switch recall. Had mine done by a Yamaha dealer in 2021.

I'd check the rear brake pedal as well. My kid's FJR had this problem intermittently. One day he said he noticed that his brake light was staying on. Checked the pedal. Totally dry and crusty. Cleaned and lubed. Fixed the stuck light, and presumably the cruise issue too because he never had any other issues with it.

I finally received my grip cancel switch replacement since I was not sure if the old one was faulty because I got sporadic continuity when testing. I replaced Ed now when checking diagnostic 82 and I push throttle back it goes from off to on

Now when I turn on not start and press the cruise the yellow light flashes

I cant remember if it did that before or not.

HOW can I check now if cruise is working without taking it for a drive?

You need a minimum speed to activate….but the CC power button, when you press it, the light stays on permanently,

I don't know if I understand you correctly, but the CC has 2 buttons. One button is the on/off button (yellow light)...the other button is the SET button (green light)...none of them flash when everything is fine. If for some reason (failure) the yellow flashes... it doesn't let you set

When you are at speed when cc stays lit. Im wondering what it means when flashing on power on.
Sounds like there’s still a fault. I just tried mine. The CC light does not come on when the key is turned on engine not started. If I press the CC button the CC light comes on solid and does not flash/blink. If I press the CC button again the light goes out. Of course pressing the set button does nothing when the bike isn’t moving.

I never use it. But if there was a short that is why it would not allow cruise to set. Very strange that it would have a short. It is way under air box does not get exposed

I wasn't even aware of this switch! I have to go look now. Glad you figured it out.
