I like the looks and the cost, but of course have concerns with strength and fitment on a 2014...
Anyone here happen to try this skid plate and have feedback on it?

Unfortunately cost is an issue right now at that $200 price point is very attractive. If the feedback is poor on this... I may need to hold off for sometime until I can swing a different one. I've been avoiding some trails that I'd like to hit due to the lack of protection on my current set up :)

What kind of riding do you plan to do with it?

Looks like there are fewer connection points than some of the better known plates.

The biggest negative for me at least is that it, like some other skid plates for our Tenere's, it appears to partially bolt onto the bikes sump. If anything, having a thick metal plate bolted to your sump, which sits a good bit closer to the floor, would likely increase the risk of damage as opposed to protecting from it. Last thing to need is to find that the plate has done it's job by absorbing a bash from a protruding rock but in doing so, it has ripped its mounting lug out of the sump casting. May be it'd be worth hanging onto your hard earned cash and waiting until you can get better quality one (ACD Racing/Hepco & Becker/Ride On ADV etc) that'll give your bike some real protection. ::008::

It's junk. I have this skid plate. :-(
It does bolt to the bottom of the engine, and provides minimal protection.
Everytime I've ridden off-road, I've ripped this off by dragging over rocks.
At the Tenere rally in Ouray I ripped it off going up Ophir pass and used a tiedown to tie the front back up so I could continue.
I strongly recommend against buying this unless you plan to stay on the street.

Buelligan,
I will take it off your hands I am always up for modifying POS items into something that has some potential to work. :lamp:

Thanks guys... this is the type of information that I was afraid of.
I don't do a lot of "Off Off" road riding and it's def not done that aggressively... but there are some pretty big rocks and stumps that I will hopefully be avoiding.

I was doing some wishful thinking that someone would say how great it was; just need to save up a little while longer.

Thanks again

for that price (if your handy) it could be modified so that it won't mount to the sump of the eng. I agree that it depends on what kind of riding you do. I have the Mastech skid plate and it works quite well, but its not made for extreme off roading. I did have to modify it for changing oil though, it was quite simple.

I ain't scairt of a little snow!

this is on the road up Sandia Crest Christmas day

The Tenere has been getting a much deserved rest after our Thanksgiving ride to the Myrtle beach, Key west, and the Texas gulf coast. But we are taking it up to Santa Fe this Saturday for lunch.
Feel free to come on down off that mountain of yours and visit for a bit ;) ::001::

Well they got to get the skiers up to the slope!!
One year A friend and I went up 64 from Tres Piedras to Tierra Amarilla it was a little sketchy at the top as we noticed guys snow snowmobiling all over the place. My friend on his R6 wearing no socks and wearing Vans!! I was like you need to think warm pal.
I would like to take you up on that lunch I have to meet someone in Santa Fe if they show up then go back home and study a quick refresher for a job interview the 7th!! Hope I get it or I am not riding much this year.

This was the year before on 64 when I just installed the Leo Vince on my new Tiger in late 2010.
A great day ride is from Taos over 64 all the way back south to Hernandez (Stop at Bode's in Abiquiu Fat Green Chili Cheeseburger) or north to Chama pass and loop around into Colorado back south.
