From time to time I like to share conversations I have with my kids, so switch off now if it's not your thing.
I have two girls A-8 and J-5, well, as I was prepping lunch today, they were at the dining table looking out onto the garden ( I had cleared most of the leaves that had dropped overinght from the walnut tree). This is how the conversation went amongst themselves:
J- " I really like the leaves, I wish they were still there on the tree"
A- " Well, when things die they have to be cleared up, you wouldn't like to them to hang around, when you die, do you want to hang around? Or would you rather be put into the ground in a box?"
J- " I know,but I still like them"
I then joined them and said that dying will allow fresh growth to come through, number two (J) as I call her, was not convinced. "Well" I said, "When I die would you like to put me in chair and leave me in the corner of the room, rotting and stinking up the place?"
She looked at me, pulled a face like she smelt something rotten and declared:
" No way, you are going in the ground, and will be eating mud for breakfast, lunch and dinner!"
Yep. I know what will happen, clear as day. There are days, when I wish I left the mystique of death alone! Oh well.
