Next will be strap-on cylinder heads to complete the BMW look >:D >:D Why?

Now having the front fender a bit higher (a couple of inches or so) would be beneficial in muddy/clay terrain.

A purely cosmetic piece that interferes with the axillary light mounting points and costs 139 euro ($187)? No thanks.

+1. I've been messing around with a KTM Supermoto to replace the stocker. Only done a mock up bit it looked good.

I think the S10 is the best looking adventure bike in part because it has no beak. Some peeps don't like the void below the headlights. Put your driving lights there ::008:: And that side mounted radiator, lets just say Yamaha appear to have some clever engineers ::012:: and did it occur to anyone that a two sided rear swingarm looks like a tuning fork ::003::

I like it. Not enough to buy one.

Beaks are semi-functional - with the beak providing some protection, you can ease up on the size of the lower fender (or possibly eliminate it all-together) and/or move it away from the front tire to provide more tolerance for mud packing. Those who think this is a non-issue have never been in serious sticky mud conditions on a low-fendered bike - it renders the bike essentially unrideable within the space of a few hundred feet. Fortunately, the S10's front fender is very easy to remove.

Due to a large number of requests we now offer a 'duck-beak' for the XT-1200Z Super Tenere. Precisely handmade of fibre flex material, this beak will improve the look of your XT1200!
Color: white, unpainted or painted ; Material: GfK
Including instructions and mounting parts.
Well, it seems someone likes the beaks for them to be made after a "large number of requests". ???

This makes total sense, but since I have no intention of ever getting into that riding situation, I'll pass on the beak!

I agree beaks may be semi-functional in some cases, but I don’t think so in this case of this stubby vanity beak for the Tenere. For instance, the GS models have beaks and low fenders, but their protruding beaks look like they’re probably somewhat functional against sling that might get past the fender. Also, I had a BMW G450X that had a beak that served as the front fender. That one worked really good. This little duck-beak for the Super Tenere though…it just doesn’t look like it’s designed for anything other than for aesthetic reasons.

I agree, this one appears to be non-functional. It does not appear to long enough to provide any sort of protection...and the pic posted still shows the regular front fender fitted.

It's just bling.

The best reason for a beak, that is in addition to a (low) fender, is aerodynamic. Improving airflow could help with rider comfort (reduce buffeting). Another valid reason could be to improve airflow for cooling.

If those are valid (functional) reasons for a beak, then fine. I don't think this part achieves either. So if you like the look, go for it.
I have a sudden urge to pick my nose.
Smilies don't have noses.

There are other pictures where that came from and this one is possibly the least attractive (good negative politics). The beak looks better when the front wheel is shown. I like the beak but it is way over priced. I would rather put that money toward the driving lights that mount in the same location.
