Sounds like 20valves may have had a different experience.
I just got mine through Revzilla so they collected the tariff I guess. I had no idea that high price was due to a tariff. So the USA has a tariff on imported Italian footwear?

I'm an ATGATT guy and want my feet and ankles well protected. Towards that, I wear my moto boots all the time, regardless of the nature of my ride. Gaerne SG10's are my boot of choice. They are a bit 'over the top' for around town, but they are hinged and relatively easy to walk in, plus they are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

I currently had a set of Sidi Adventure Rain boots.....Good protection....not good for walking in, and they squeak. The rain part failed after the first year.....feet get wet when riding more than 30 minutes in the rain. The real bummer is my soles are worn by the toe to the point the tread is gone on both boots.

I am going to replace them for next season with a pair of Forma Adventure boots.

+1 on the Forma. I would not have a left ankle and foot if I had not been wearing them. When the current pair expires, I will buy another.

Seeing that picture makes me wish I'd bought the brown ones and not the matt black ones. They never look 'clean' and always look scruffy. It could just be me of course...

I read on some forum a guy took apart the buckles on his Sidi Adventure Gore Tex and greased the springs etc. Never squeaked again. There are YouTube videos dealing with the squeaks as well.

Springs...? I have not found any springs on my boots yet. I know there is a boot dressing out there that says it's safe for Gore Tex, but have not tried it yet. Mine appear to squeak wherever there is plastic to leather contact...which is a lot of places. I hit up those places with a Gore Tex safe silicone spray that makes them silent until they get wet or too dusty, then they start sounding off again.

Gaerne Balance Oiled boots?

I like these boots. I am really concerned if they are...waterproof? I am sure that the Sidi Adventure Gore-tex boot probably is. Thanks for any insight(s) you can offer as to how well the Gaerne hold up under very wet conditions.

I have the A* Scouts — comfortable and waterproof with decent protection — for touring duty and Gaerne ED Pro boots — taller and better armored — for offroading on my KTM.

O'Neal MX, solid construction, fit under jeans, waterproof and cheap, however, they need some break in.

...but they didn't protect me from kicking my pannier while getting off the bike. :'(

The Sidi Armada Gore Tex http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sidi-armada-gore-tex-boots

actually has a detachable upper that can convert it to a very good off-road boot or you can leave it off and have a street boot. I use 'em as a street boot. Or, the Sidi Adventure Gore Tex is a very streetable off road boot. Both are waterproof and a little spendy but they'll last a LONG time and are very comfortable.
I ride on the tarmac mostly (90%) and was looking for a good waterproof boot. My criteria included a) it had to be a gore-tex boot b) with a thick sole for good traction, c) shouldn't look like a hardcore off road boot at the same time. The Sidi Armada seemed to be the only boot that fit the bill. So I placed the order for a pair yesterday. Ii you have been riding with them for a while, any feed back would be appreciated.

Tenerester,

I have the SIDI Armada boots. I have used them with and without the removeable upper support. They are stiff at the start however they broke-in fast. I have had them since before I had the S10 so I have not yet tested them off-road. I am sure that they are easily up to the task.

I did ride with them in the rain over the summer and my feet stayed dry.

Bottom line: A good boot although pricey.

Good Luck!

Thanks Lee. Got it for 10% off on Cyber Monday deal and it still seemed pricier than most boots. :)

I went with the Sidi Adventure Goretex from a seller on EBay in the Netherlands. Great price so I jumped on them. Took about 7-10 days to receive. I can tell you these look like awesome boots. Fit is true to size with a nice size toe box. I have a "D" width foot and these fit well with a bit of room for my feet to swell a bit. I'm a size 43 Euopean which is consistant with my other shoes and boots. Only have been walking around the house so I can't comment on anything else yet. These are not squeaking yet. The footbed is very comfortable and I'm confident as has been stated previously these will be comfortable for long distance days.

Bought the Sidi Armada this summer and have been super happy with them. I wear a size 8.5 shoe and fit into 43's perfect. They are very comfortable, even walking around. Nice work boot type of traction sole. I always wear them with the upper protection. I have some Tech 7's from my MX days, the Armada isn't even close to those as far as protection, but I cant imagine wearing 7's all day. VERY happy with them.

I bought about a year ago from a buyer in UK and got hit with customs charges. Had to pay a COD "broker" fee, to UPS, in order to get my boots out of jail! I think it was around $40. It's still a screaming deal!

Here is a place to check out. I just received my order from Motorama.it. I purchased a pair of Sidi Adventure Gore boots and a pair of gloves. The boots in the states are $550.00 and the gloves $289.00. I got all of it, including shipping, for 386 euros or about $471.00. The website said the gloves would not be available for eight days. Everything shipped on about the sixth day and it took seven more to get to me. The tracking is a little frustrating, but I was a little impatient. Saved a lot of $. I may end up paying customs tariff on the boots, but it should only be 8.5%. We'll see if I get a bill. Still a heck of a buy.
