Been lurking here for awhile and this is my first post.
Is there a drivers backrest available for a stock Super Tenere?
I did a test ride for an hour on an 2012 model and just loved it. It was much lighter than the wing and st1300 I'm used to which was a real treat. This particular one had some vibs all the time. It never smoothed out at all. Luckily they didn't seem to bother me much for the hour, but for all day, just not sure.
Anyways whatever my next ride will be, it will need a drivers backrest for those long days as my old back just can't take it anymore, but I can't seem to find one.. ie no bakup, utopia etc.
thanks

If you find something let me know . I have been looking for something similar for my bad back.

I have not seen anything yet for the bike so as of today I am out in the shop fabricating my own driver back rest. I think I have a reasonable plan and will post up some pics once I am done. It is nice to be able to have something to rest against on those long days in the saddle.

One of my riding buddies made one, this week if I see him I will take a picture and post it. He took one made for another bike and retrofit for his. It looks like it was made for it.

olddude, getting old sucks!!!!!!

I had a Renazco seat made for my beast, next time I will try a day long. Aftermarket seat is where it is at. The stock seat has a tilt that makes my hips hurt, when I did the seat Jim took it out and made me site more straight up. I think that is where you are finding the need for some support. I could be wrong but try a bike or two with diff seats before looking at a back rest. When you do let us know, I did a 10 dayer with 1500 miles no real back concerns.

Also the vibes I felt as well, I went with a set of Fasst bars, they had rubber grommets that help reduce the vibes. I have heard that you can add weight to the bar ends but I dont need them with the new bars.

Good luck I love mine, and so do most others.

Thanks guys..
I would think if enough people asked Bob at Utopia about one, he would look into it at least as
he does make them for the bmw 1200gs.

This is what I did to mine. I made the base of the backrest so it was adjustable front to back and the backrest was adjustable up and down.
It would also adjust the top in and out. The backrest is a copy of the Backup backrest.

This is the one that I started with, only it was a copy. Not as much money.

I have not seen the one I used for sale on fleabay for a long time, but if you look on beemer forums you might find one. Also the Passenger backrest will work.

My issue is I have the seat back but I'm running the stock plastic rack and would like to mount to that but I'm not sure what to use.

It has been so long since I have seen the stock part, I can't help you much there. Just have a look at where you might mount a small aluminum plate to use as the base. Maybe two SS straps coming up from the front bolts???
Good luck Vince...

Fishcat fabricated his own using a second hand pad from a cruiser and some diamond plate. I was able to see it firsthand this past weekend and it's trick. Maybe he'll post up a pic or tell you more about how it was made.

Olddude, I ordered a back rest with my Russell Daylong. Love it on long trips. It's adjustable up and down as well as forward/back. If I remember, I'll post up some pics.

I keep hearing about the Tenere having vibes. Mine is plenty smooth at most RPMs and I'm coming off a Goldwing. At 70 MPH I can barely feel the engine. Go figure.

Sorry to bring this up again, but does anyone have any kind of update on this topic?
Can a drivers backrest be installed while keeping the stock front and back seat? The day long with back rest Might be an alternative but I've not found them that comfy contrary to most people.
thanks

Who was the one that used a car headrest to make a Backrest I remember seeing that but never got a good shot on how he modified the rear seat platform to hold it.
It was removable as well.
