Many of you have probably heard of or met Alan Ludec of the Motorcycle Tourers Forum. Anyway, his bike crapped out (KLR650) in Inuvik NWT. Busted shock and fussy carb. Here is the thread on MTF: http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/messages?msg=44991.1 Should make an interesting read at the least and maybe a bit of learning info for those who might make the trec up there. I think maybe Alan should have headed to Deadhorse instead, considering the problems he will be facing getting parts through customs. Believe he has been to DH a number of times.

Alan called me a couple of days ago and then sent me an email last night about this problem.
Alan and I went to Deadhorse in 2004 and he was there just a few days ago on this trip. They ran in to a snow storm shortly after leaving Deadhorse and had to go back to Deadhorse and wait a day for better weather.

Although I never met Alan in person, I feel like I know him from following his adventures on the MTF. Poor guy sure has his share of challenges, but then I suppose that goes with riding the megamiles. I hope he does just fine. I'm thinking a strut might get him down to Whitehorse, but probably with a sore hiney.

Not sure what this ride is exactly about, but looks like Key West - Prudoe Bay - Inuvik and beyond? He is surely an asphalt addict :)

There is another thread on the MTF in the Long Distance Riding: http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/messages?msg=44737.1 which details his trip.

I'm thinking that with all his broken bits, chains, shocks and at times bones, the poor guy just might be a good candidate for future Tenere ownership. At least no more issues with worn out or tight chains.

Thanks for the link, even though I’ve read it way back when it all took place I read it again tonight, we will be riding up there in August 2018 and hopefully don’t run into any trouble like that.
