Doubletake mirrors

One of the irritations I've noticed with the bike is that the mirrors tend to unscrew themselves over time. If a mirror gets knocked askew, I find that either the thread holding the mirror to the stalk or the stalk to the mount has loosened in the process. I had noticed for some time that bikes like BMW and KTM seem to come with a Ram mount-style mirror arrangement, and recently discovered that these are also sold by Doubletake as a universal mirror replacement, and that several here have switched to them.

For those that have them, is the mirror better or worse than the stock unit, in terms of vibration and clarity? Is it worth switching out? Do the Doubletakes also work loose over time?

I have Doubletake adventure mirrors. I think they work way better than the stock mirrors. There is just something about being on that rubber Ram ball that dampens vibration and makes for a clearer view. I also worry less about breaking the lever perch off the bar in a crash or tip over.

If you get on a washboard road they do have a tendency to vibrate down and they want to move if you hang your helmet on the mirror.

I’d install them again. You do have to purchase the left hand thread adapter also.

Everything he said. The field of vision is way better. Don't have any blind spot. I have some new gen1 mirrors I replaced with these bad boys.

I notice that Rugged Roads sell them singly with Yamaha adapters sold as extras but Amazon sell them in pairs and appear to include the adapters.

Here is advice from the retailer:
THIS ITEM LISTING IS FOR ONE MIRROR KIT - YOU WILL RECEIVE THE MIRROR, RAM MOUNT AND RAM BALL. IF YOU WISH TO ORDER A SET PLEASE ORDER 2. WILL FIT MOST BIKES WITHOUT ANY ADAPTERS BUT IF YOU ARE NOT SURE PLEASE MESSAGE FIRST. BMW AND YAMAHA DEFINITELY NEED ADAPTERS. HONDA DO NOT.

I saw the Amazon listing, and it does seem to be the same thing as the product listing on Doubletake's website, same price and everything. I decided to order direct from Doubletake just to be sure I got the "correct" adapters.

Apparently the S10 (and likely many other Japanese bikes, if the Amazon listing is correct) use a reverse thread on the right-side mirror, so the DT mirror needs a reverse-thread adapter, and they give you an extension adapter for the left side so both mounts are the same height.

they’re wide. I can see the front bumper beside me and still see the car in the edge of the mirror
