Do aftermarket exhausts have spark arrestors?

So, IIRC, the stock exhaust has a spark arrestor built into it. Is it accurate that an aftermarket can won't have a US Forest Service approved spark arrestor? I'm assuming that the only way it's legal to ride on fire roads on US Forest Service land is to have a spark arrestor. Am I way off on all this?

A stock vehicle that is registered for the road, license plate, is legal on forest service land as delivered from the factory.

If an aftermarket exhaust is fitted it will require a spark arrester.

Sanctioned events are game changers.

This is the law and I've had exposure to both sides of the enforcement where they do and do not know the law. It always works to ask them to show you their spark arrester on their truck!! There isn't one.

I have the Arrow pipe, I did not see any type of screen making me think it has no spark arrestor. I looks like a straight thru pipe with packing around the outside, so no SA. The pipe does have a pipe connected at one end, so you can not see all the way thru the pipe to tell for sure.
I did have my hands on the Two Bros pipe, it had a removable mid-pipe, so I could see all the way thru and no SA.

The stock exhaust is NOT straight thru, so that serves as a SAr. I don't know if it is stamped as such or not.

Many aftermarket exhausts for dirt bikes or quads are listed as having a SA. They usually do this with a screen or supertrapp style plates.

Being straight through or not is no indication of a forest approved spark arrester.

If the bike is stock, the exhaust's federal emissions stamp covers you as I posted above. If you are running an aftermarket pipe it will either have a USFS spark arrester stamp or you can get a USFS add on spark arrester which would have a USFS stamp on it.

At the end of the day an official will use a length and diameter of wire to check the "pass through" capability of the exhaust in question.

To add to the mix, our S10s have a catalytic convertor and this isn't even addressed in the applicable regulations. But, there are several stories of vehicles starting a fire due to these.

Oh how government regulations, enforcement, and interpretation are such a boondoggle!!

Just to clarify. Being straight through definately indicates no spark arrester. Being not straight through does not necessarily indicate there is a spark arrester. ::008::
