The back end got squirrely two turns before the oil light came on. Fortunately was as already slowed down for the last rock debris section plus it was very dark in those mountains.

From the earlier thread that summarized skid plate attributes, it seemed the SW Mototech was (1) mounted to engine points other than the sump, and (2) it's very reasonably priced.

Call TT and tell them you went to the IMS San Mateo show but lost the 15% Special Offer coupon. That should save you $38.99. Or wait for the Long Beach show.

I am officially in a depressed mental state (in addition to living in CA). I need a sump, strainer cover & strainer that are on BACKORDER 'TILL 11/25!!! Going to see if the dealer can get them shipped from Japan.

I take back all the bad thoughts in my mind re: the 11/25 ship date. No bike for almost a month! BUT divine intervention. Out of the blue, dealer got the whole shopping list, gaskets, etc. yesterday @ 3:30pm, factory direct via FedEx. One hr of labor and walla, got the bike back yesterday evening. Only thing is the oil sight glass is totally filled. Need to drain out a bit.

I'm surprised how much of my psychi is tied to that bike. I take the Fifth on the weather question. Do not want to elicit a ration of comments from our brethren in the far north.
