OK. Decision made. Givi Trekker Outback. That only took a month of pontificating! Now I need some help...

I don't want your advice - just your experiences or regrets...

The question is 37 litre x 2 or 37 litre exhaust side and 48 litre right hand.

My finger has been hovering Iver the "place order" button for 3 days!

Thanks.

I also have 2 x 37 outback trekker and 40 litre top box. - very happy with the look, space, price and quality. I too like symmetry.

I have the asymmetric on this bike and have had symmetric on rentals. Walking up to the rentals when I could see that one box bigger, there was just something out of place.
Never notice the loss of a little space on mine with the asymmetric boxes and usually have more space than needed. Photo is of the boxes on the old bike.

37x2. I have the kappa kgr33 which is similar to Give trekker 33. Almost symmetry. Have you checked out Giving latest Dolomiti boxes?

Thanks for the replys so far. I like symmetry. That's part of my issue. My wife tells me I have a problem!

Unfortunately, neither the 2x37 or the 37/48 are symmetrical in this Givi set up when measured from the tyre center line. However, I agree, the 2x37 looks more symmetrical. But, the 48 can take a helmet...

Keep the comments coming...experience or regrets...

Thanks.

And there you go. If putting a helmet in the side case is something you want to do, get the 37/48 set. It really just depends on how much stuff you carry on a regular basis. I have 38/38 and that worked just fine until I started doing moto-camping. So I scored a used 45L side case and now have a bit more space and don't have to compress the lids to close with a full load inside. I still have the other smaller one, but haven't been tempted to put it back on for day to day riding simply because it's handy to toss the helmet in the larger case instead of getting the cable and lock out and securing it to the bars.

If you run a top case large enough to put the helmet in, all of this is moot.

I have the 37L, 48R case. From center, it is 20" to the left and 20.5" to the right. That's symmetrical enough. If you are that picky about symmetry, then wait until you put two 37L cases on the bike and get annoyed by the left side sticking so far out.

I've gone two-up touring with my wife on the bike and having the extra space in the 48L case was very nice to have.

Spray the seams on the inside with some kind of water sealant and you'll be good to go. In my experience, the cases can leak from the bottom corner joints.

Just finished fitting these to mine .. I already had the top box...

You can get a full size lid in the 48L which is handy...

Doesn't everything depend on the racks used and whether or not the boxes are muffler cut? Muffler cut would by different litre numbers, but symmetrical visually. Flat backed boxes need flat racks so the racks would be asymmetrical, pushing one box further from the center line, giving the possibility for the use of the one large box and one small, and still winding up with a symmetrical outside width.
