Differences between SW Motech/Givi racks

SW Motech claims they build racks where the non exhaust side is much closer to the bike than Givi's, which seems to be a more symmetrical approach. I was not aware of this but if is true, this could reduce as many as 2 inches in width, with the same luggage. Does anybody have any info on this?

Tis true. I purposely installed the SWM racks on my first Tenere so that I could use a larger bag on the right side and still have a relatively symmetrical profile (center of bike to outside edge of each bag).

Me too, I am sure some others do similar, but not all.

On the S10 it is fairly symmetrical with my 45 / 37L combo - still a wide beast, but would be worse if the racks were equal each side.

That's what I was running. 45 / 37 Givi Trekkers, plus a 45 Givi Trekker tail trunk.
