OK, well it looks like i screwed this up on a few fronts.
My name is Dino, I live in Sacramento California. I have been riding since I was 4.....I think that's 46 years. I have always owned BMWs and still own the '89 R100GS I bought in '90. I have been riding/wrenching what are now known as "adventure" bikes since I got my license, with the occasional street bike thrown in. I have raced in Baja a couple times and ride down there often. I commute everyday on a bike, unless its raining when its time to leave. I ride 25-30k miles a year.
I bought the S10 because I wanted something different and because I have owned/maintained every GS from '89R100 to '09GSA and a few of the other ADV bikes, KTM, Aprilla, Ducati, BMW etc. Turns out after having it for less than a week and a couple of mods, I love this bike. Looking forward to many miles together.
To the leak: before I panic-posted about the leak, I had already wiped it all up, so no picture of that. There wasn't a lot of fluid but it certainly was gear oil. It is NOT coming from the weep hole, so I'll assume I'm in the bonus. I hopped on it and rode it 20 miles (its about 80 degrees here today) and when I parked it, no fluid at all. No recent tire change, although one is pending so let me know what to look for there. After having rebuilt more than my fair share of final drives, to say I was alarmed is an understatement. Thanks in advance for the guidance.
I clipped and painted the muffler guard (seemed a shame to hide that pipe).
