This ride will start in SW Denver but will be going thru CS on the way to Canon City. So the first part will be Hwy. We go part way up Shelf road turn left & will eventually wind up in Florissant. Then we get on 3 & wind up in West Creek. Then Deckers and on towards home. The dirt roads look like they are the maintained type for the most part. For the Denver folks, lets meet at the SW corner of C470 & Santa Fe at the Conoco station at 8:30am. We can meet up with the CS folks somewhere along 85/115 at about 9:30 to 9:45 ish. Just let us know where. Us Denver people will top off the tanks in Canon City. We will eat on the road, picnic style, so bring a lunch. It is supposed to be mid 70's at the lower elevations & 60's up higher. Sunshine all day::012:: Lets ::001::

Lived in CS in early 70s. Wish it was not a full day ride to get there and another home, as I have done much of that in a cage and would love to do it on the Ténéré.

Darn. I signed up for a long bicycle ride on Saturday. Taking a group from our ski club onto the AF Academy; they need someone with a military ID to get access.

I can't join in this weekend, I have to work around the house and sell off some stuff.

Have fun and no dirt naps! (like me last weekend)..

Would like to do this ride too! Just created several tracks for my GPS for this exact area but haven't had a chance to 'validate' them.. lol.

Already committed to helping a buddy change out his pop-top canvas on his VW Westy (he will help me with mine when the time comes).

Wow what a great ride! I wasn't going to go to give the ankle a rest and was thinking of taking the Ducati out, but seeing the temps were going to be in the 70s I wanted to go for a long ride.

We went down Santa Fe blvd through Palmer Lake then over 115 to Florence. Brunch at Florence, Florence to Phantom Canyon Road. We took a detour to a reservoir up there. Still covered in ice. Gas at Cripple Creek then back to Colorado Springs on Gold Camp Road. Full day and about 275 miles today… Didn't get home till 6 pm….

Phantom Canyon was nice and dry for the most part a few damp spots but nothing serious. Gold Camp Road was another story… Lots of washboard, pot holes filled with runoff that you couldn't tell how deep some where. Plenty of run-off, plenty of mud. It was work! But thats probably due to my lack of off-road experience. Yeah there was mud, but not that totally slippery as snot stuff we've run into the previous weeks. Very easy to negotiate.

We didn't take any picture… Okay I took one...

Found nice Cafe in Florence that had kick-butt breakfast items. We'll have to stop there next time…

On the down side, with maybe a few more miles of dirt till we were at the Broadmoor, going around a left-hander, over washboard. The front end started to slide out, and I instinctively put my foot out… No bueno.. my foot banged over the wash-board. Freakin' reinjured whatever had healed. Ankle is swollen and painful again… damn…It had only been mildly sore while standing….

Damn Bushy....... You'll have to let that thing heal up a bit more. Maybe wrap it even if it feels OK before your next trail ride.

I got out for a bit, just pavement, after I got my shed sold. Now I have room in the garage! (long story of woo between the HOA and Commerce City building permit morons)

Hope all went well on the group ride, no dirt naps etc.

Picture Carl took up at Skaguay Reservoir. Ice was still pretty thick.. Hanging on to the boat dock rail you could jump on the ice and it wouldn't budge…

Sorry to hear about the ankle. Looks like it was a nice ride though and what a beautiful day it was!
