Well, with the pending arrival of our new blue, i have come to a cross-roads.....

The urban road rager has been a good gal to me over the past couple of years. Unique enough that I didn't feel like I was just playing into the crowd of the big 4. Comfortable enough to go on 8 hour rides and only be partially sore. And, most of all reliable.

But, not sure I need...want...should have one more bike in the garage. Probably won't ride'r too much with the S10 sitting there screaming my name. And really don't need to pay the $1k in insurance a year. But having an S3 and an S10 in my garage is a nice thought.....

So, is the S10 dual purpose enough to say good bye to my black beauty? trade it in? Sell it? Hard'n up and keep it?

Thoughts?

***for those that are not sure WTF I am talking about, this is in regards to the '07 Speed Triple

I damaged my piggy bank and even checked under the couch to get the coin for the S10 and stupidly sold my WR and GSX to stop any potential nagging about 'how many can you ride at once". I love the s10, it fits the bill for the riding I do but I should have toughened up. The little bit of extra space in the garage is a constant reminder.

That's a tough call buddy. That's a sweet ride that considering selling ...

I like to have three bikes at all times .... two on the go and a project bike.

Keep it ... get rid of the missus ;D

BTW .... lovin' the Jeep ....

i'd vote, but i can't be relied upon to make a rational decision about the number of bikes in the garage. i'm at a point now that i need to sell a bike to make room for the s10. just not sure which one will go. i reckon i could park the truck outside and have room for a few more bikes.

I say keep it ;D Use S10 for long rides and the sweet Triple for around town, I rode one the other day and loved it, love the triple sound ;D

I have a bigger problem, my Goldie ;D (Kawasaki Concours) is also setup for long distance riding, so my dilemma is why keep two bikes with similar pedigree??? ::)

I think I need to get rid of Goldie :'( and get myself a Speed Triple ;D

If it's payed for keep it.
If ya still owe well maybe a new bike is not in the cards for ya.
I really like strange or one-off type bikes and cars but the price you pay is not everyone will like your seconds, could be tough to sell at a profit.

Dang-it, now I have been trying to get those S3's out of my head, and now I see this!! I located a new S3 in the Denver area last week on line, and since I live 250 miles away, and have just put the deposit on the new S ten, I had been able to resist the temptation just to drive down there and get it, well untill now that is.
Those bug-eyed S3's are just cool--and I still want one!!

With the state of the economy, I'd hold onto it OR if it needs to go on the block, put a price on it that you can actually live with if it's sold (i.e. no regrets). Time is on your side right now.

yea....the S3 is paid for and has some nice farkles that make it unique (pulled headlights snug up to forks, different looking exhaust (not even sure who makes them), clip-on to give that cafe look).

Anyways, the missus just purchased Ms Innocent last year and has been slowly getting up to speed. So, I usually ride behind her (for a number of reasons 8) )but the S3 is just to holigan for me not to blip the throttle every other second......i was originally thinking looking for a old CB 350 or 450 or an XS and going vintage. but then the S10 was released and i jumped in head first (maybe into the shallow pool) no thanks to the views of LWD and LWR and then two canadians on bikes and eventually finding the real adventurers over on advrider.......

sooooooo...guess i have some time to think about it and will have a better idea come january when the IMS hits DC.....

by the way, is there anything like InterMOT here in the US?? looks way cooler than IMS............

This is how I normally make the decision on this sort of stuff:

1) Get the bike / car out of the garage

2) give it a good old clean up

3) ride / drive it up the road and then........

A) you get that no way I am selling this feeling

or

B) it's just not blowing my skirt up any more, time to cut her losse

My current plan is to sell my ST1300 and KLR650 once I'm sure the S10 suits my needs, and keep my Street Triple. Two bikes, I can cope with cost- and space-wise. Three is a little cramped in my circumstances, though with more resources I'd probably have dozens and never let any go. ::)

I like having a couple of diverse bikes. And I'd hate to let my Triumph go, it just makes me grin so much.

Anyways, I knew the responses I would probably get from this board (and any motorcycle board for that matter).......so we shall see how the piggy bank is holding up come May...

I am in the same boat, trying to decide if I really want to sell my KTM950SM. Afraid I will regret it.

Come on guys stop messin' about. Don't get all emotional ...... they're only bikes ..... now get on with sell what you need to sell and let's move forward

Ahhh yes and that stated by the guy who sold his MT-01 and FZ1 in order to buy the XT. I know I should have never sold either ... and I lost a lot of sleep over the decision.

But hey! I've now got the XT and it's more bike than I possibly imagined and I'm happy. You can only ride one bike at a time and the XT does the lot IMHO.

The upside to my dilemma is that my next muscle bike will probably be a VMax ;) Wife doesn't know that yet though.

Amen Swagger!!! I too used to be soooo wrapped up over my Honda ST1300, but now only able to have one bike. I think the XT is going to be the BEST ALL AROUND BIKE EVER!!!! For me that is.

see...i do not think i would put as much thought into it if i was talkin about a GSA, or a Strom, or any other touring type or dual sport type bike.....but my black beauty is a diffferent breed altogether....or is it??

maybe i am thinking way too much.....its not like i am replacing my trackbike with the s10 :p
