Hi has anyone tried fitting remote buttons for the two buttons on the console for trip and clock and moving them on to the handle bar?

Yes, I have. One of the best mods I've done. Here is the install.

These three buttons take the place of the three buttons on the dash... I've had them for about 2 + years..

Pull the dash all apart and attach these really small wires.

And the side one for TC.

Drill the back out to allow the new cable to come out.

Here you go..... http://www.trailtech.net/striker-remote-switch

Make sure you have a very sharp soldering iron and a steady hand.. The wires are very small, maybe 26-28g

If you need the schematic drawings, let me know, I can email them to you...

Told ya! (in the other thread)
He never quits fiddling with the Tenere. And a lot of us have his efforts somewhere on our bikes.

And here I go again - can I get the diagram as well? That's nifty.

Just to make it a little easier for everyone.. The four wires are the someone's from Trail Tech.. They come out of the three (red) button switch... If I remember correctly you need to also order a "long" extension cable that they offer.. this is the one you cut the ends back and feed them into the dash. When you open the back of your dash you can reference these pictures and then make yours look like mine...

Top button (arrow) Adj the top of your LCD screen.
Center button Adj your TC (1-2-off)
Bottom button (arrow) Adj the bottom of the LCD screen.

Again, reminder... you must have a very sharp and small soldering iron.. Everything is easy except attaching the wires to the back of the dash circuit board. ::008::

Don't see the extension cable. I looked, I promise. (I hate coming across as helpless)

Truth is, the only reason I want the extension is it probably has a matching connector and it won't look like a butcher job? :)

ABS off switch and now this. My farkling has trickled down to the stuff I have the least passion for doing. Wires. Electrical......

Here is the original post from 2011 on how to do this, with schematics.

http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1783.0

It looks like TrailTech discontinued the switch extension cable (part # V800-12). You could call them up to see if they changed the part #.

A great mod that I did on my ST back in Aug 2011. Still going strong (I did it back in 2008 on my Tiger 1050 as well).

That thread lives on. :)

Thanks.
It is interesting to see the new folks go thru alot of the questions, concerns, etc that us 'old timers' went thru back when we got our PDP bikes in August 2011. Just those old threads are buried.
