Hey All Recently purchased a 2012 S10. Everythings great on the bike, but can't get the tongue under the seat to catch, it looks to me from other seat pics I've seen that it's either been cut short or the end clean snapped off.
Any suggestions to fix or do I just need a new seat?PXL_20231124_005746484.NIGHT.jpg

If it was me, I would most likely just order a new seat from Partzilla.
Note: I only checked on parts at these two places:

Partzilla shows they have the seat assembly (original part #),
part number: #23P-24710-10-00 -- MSRP $306.99 , Their price $202.33 USD

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. has the seat assembly (updated part #),
part number: 23P-24710-11-00 (replaces part #23P-24710-10-00) -- MSRP $306.99 , Their price $239.45 USD

Do you have the plastic piece that is used to adjust the seat height (low and high position)?
This sets under the seat, on top of the frame rails.
Item #14 SEAT BRACKET ASSY, part number: #23P-24708-00-00

The Marketplace/For Sale forum has a used seat for $150 but it does have a cracked plastic rib next to the tongue.

This seat has the gripper top like the OEM seat cover.
The Seat Concepts seat replaces the OEM seat cover and foam but keeps the OEM seat pan.
The foam also levels the seat more, so you don't have as much forward slope as what the OEM seat has.

I have done the seat leveling mod on all of the S10s I’ve owned. I remove the shorter rubber bumpers from the passenger seat and install them in place of the four rear taller bumpers of the front seat. This drops the rear of the front/driver seat about 1/4” so I install/tape a 1/4” spacer onto the top of the rear tab on the driver seat to keep things snug. I slightly raise the front of the seat with stick on wheel weights on the frame rails which raises the seat bracket. I then space the front lock bracket on the seat with some 6mm washers under the tab to allow the seat to latch properly after having raised in the front.

The OP needs the correct rubber bumpers and the rear seat tab extended ….. not hard or expensive. Hopefully you have the seat adjustment bracket I show in my photos.

Not sure you have enough room but possibly you do. I took the middle and back bumpers out of my seat completely like your seems to be. I took a small piece of plastic block cut and filed to shape and bolted it to the seat tab. I think you have just enough room to pull that off if you take time and file it match the profile of the remaining tab that is there. I do have a extra stock seat pan from my bike. It will not have the rubber bumpers and I may have already taken the hand made tab off it. Of course you will have to put the seat cover on it and all. Not sure about shipping to Canada. I don't do a lot of mailing things. Just a thought though if you would like it I could dig it up and ship it to you.

Ok im a little slow sometimes but i could not get any pictures on PM. So here is the seat pan and old foam. This seat has had two different seat covers on it over a few years so there is a lot of staple holes but i dont think that will hurt it. Oh the old foam has been hollowed out a bit in the back. It is not the same as stock. There are two holes in the tab. That is where i had the plastic block that took up the space from the removed bumpers.

Big shout out to @cyclemike4, thanks so much for shipping the pan to me, I took the foam and cover off the damaged pan and stapled it into yours, did the levelling mod, and voila, seat is level and has a strong latch at the.back, no wobble, thanks again for everything bro, Happy New Year, thanks again to everyone else for their input!
Happy to hear it got there and it worked out! Great!

I wonder why Yamaha has so much trouble designing seat to bike attachment. Still struggling with my ST seat (will try the wheel weights). I had similar problems with my FJ-09 until I got a Sergent seat.
