I had the T Rex bars and skid, minus the poor craftsmanship and what not they were good but very heavy, I took them off because they built them completely wrong, and the bike felt a lot better for handling. I just threw out my T Rex bars and bought a set of Altriders.

Installed T Rex last year and think they are great, fairly easy install with good instructions, excellent protection, very nice skid plate, reasonable price, made in USA .

Installed them 3 separate times with the same result, following all instructions. Combing over the videos and diagrams. And they were crooked, lopsided and uneven. I threw them out. Went to AltRider

I’d ask for a refund. Seems like a lot of money to just “throw out”.

I've got the Altrider lower and upper crashbars. I like them and the fit just fine. I have no opinion or experience about others. The upper crashbars make for nice mounting points for auxiliary lights, though I'm not too sure how necessary they are for my riding in terms of crash protection (mostly paved road). Sort of like belts and suspenders and I don't mind overdoing it a bit when it comes to protection. Hit a turkey at highway speed with zero issues, other than some minor challenges getting feathers out of a few places. Not that this is any major stress test, but they did do their job and with no damage to report other than an auxiliary light getting out of alignment. I like the Altriders but that's not to say others aren't good, too.

Altrider upper and lower for me. Don't really need these for most of my riding but they saved my plastic (and possibly the radiator) when my side stand sunk into mushy asphalt and the bike tipped over. So I'm glad that I bought them.

Would have been nice but I didn’t put them on until end of winter before riding season and I bought them 6 months prior. I work 20/10 rotation so by the time I tried to refund them they would not let me.

I run the Outbacks in combination with ACD skid. The bike has gone down enough times that I lost count. Its a hell of a tough combination, other then touchup paint on the bars the vitals and plastics have never been damaged.

I have TREX bars and skid plate but never again for any of their products. I also experienced minor misalignment right out of the box but was able to "finesse" them onto the bike. The worst part of my bars was the absolutely horrible powder coating around half of the welds which produced rust blooms. I had them re-powder coated by a competent local company and the finish is good now. Actually the worst part of my TREX experience was their awful customer service, BS responses as to why my supposed stainless steel bars (actually sent as carbon steel after they switched materials without notifying me) were even rusting in the first place and their eventual compensation for the problem which barely even covered the fuel cost to take the bars to get re-coated.

Yes TREX to appear to provide great protection at a great price and I am sure many folks have not had the same issues I did but IMO and if I was to do it all over again I should have gone AltRider, Outback, ACD or almost any other brand.

It's like asking what's the best gun when you really need it. The answer is the one you have.

FWIW, I have Givi and they provide adequate protection in a fall (tested and approved) and are suitable mounts for lights and highway pegs, and allow adequate space to remove side panels.
