Crash engine guard ST 1200 Test

People talks about how works the stock engine guard, many say that dont work, but i have 1 video and 2 test pictures of my ST 1200 to prove it.

Any have an experince with stock engine guard?

I have to agree that in a Slide crash there isn't enough slamming force to do any damage the radiator, but I was reading a ride report I believe it was in Africa and one of the guys dumped the bike onto the radiator side and damaged the fan. They were able to get back without the fan working and the bike did not overheat (as long as they were moving), but had to replace the fan motor eventually.

I believe that the radiator does deserve some additional protection if nothing else but to take the initial blow of the drop.
