About capability to do her work (bars) was tested for another friend. He is retired, but was race rider, is a extremely careful, and at week or two to buy the bike when i went to his house and invite to ride he acceded to try, he went one block, turn around and in front of me his pant hooked and fall, slow but he fell. He almost die, he was very worried for the accident, he had a small injury in his elbow but he don´t felt nothing, he was worried for the bike. The street is a stoned street, land and small stones (ripio in spanish) We took the bike and then we saw, the only damage was a very little scratch in the left box, the crash bar another very small scratch (paint only) ant the plastic covers faultless.
Was a small crash test but enough to feel confident with the bars

Let me correct myself: givi bars bend easyER compare to AltRider ones.
I have Givi bars on my Weestrom and have bent both sides in various tip overs out on gravel roads. Not massive bends mind you but enough I can see it and be annoyed by it. Also got some scratches in the fairings as a result. To be fair, the right side bent during a ~30 MPH thrashing and it didn't bend much.

This time around I will probably go with something else. Looking at the Altriders and also the Touratechs but I want black esp if I end up with a Raven ... pulling the trigger on Thursday when the US re-opens for business after the holiday.

I notice all you guys from the states raving over Altrider crash bars but where can I get them in England?
I've found the answer to my own question ::) Nippy Normans stock them at £288.

That's where I got mine - couple of days from ordering to delivery. I ordered on 27th May, some of the other AltRider farkles I ordered at the same time only arrived two days ago.

My only beef with the bars is the supplied replacement bolts to go in the plate at the front of the engine needed a 19mm socket, which I didn't have (the bolts removed needed a 17mm socket). Fortunately my brother in law turned up whilst I was fitting them, he had a 19mm socket in his car.

Deffo the best bars, I'd say ::008::

Placed my order this morning for the Alt Rider crash bars and skidplate. I'll update the thread when I receive and install them.

IMO you are soon to be very happy with your choice. I got the same set up and was/am very satisfied. It did take two people to put the bars on but well worth it. They are very sturdy as is the bash plate.
Congrats.
best,

Just check that the crash bars allow you to remove the right side cover over the toolkit etc. My R&G ones definitely don't make that easy - in fact almost impossible. Be warned.

Altrider claims that the bars don't restrict the right cover from being removed. I should have my parts today, so I guess we'll see. Pics later today.

On the right side you will be ok. Use some blue painters tape on the bars to keep from scratching the cover.

I have the AltRider bars - right side panel removal is no issue. Haven't tried the left side in earnest yet. I installed the bars by myself - having an 18v cordless drill with the right allen key in the chuck made it possible. :) I think these are the best bars out there.

Not too bad to put on, look great too. Very sturdy. Hopefully I won't be testing them too soon.

I fitted the Rumbux crash bars that includes a skid plate very solid and strong.
Yes it does add extra weight to the bike but then rather protect the bike that worry about
some extra kg's
