So about 2 hours after I ordered the NelsonRigg bags the retailer email saying that the distributor would not have any inventory till early August - so the order was cancelled.

Just pulled the trigger on the SW Motech's below I hope this is the end of this purchasing excursion !

I've got those, used them last year when camping. They are definitely waterproof, but a bit of a faff to fit to Altrider bars and keep them straight/tight though. You don't get loads in them, I think I used mine for my cooking gear and a waterproof over jacket.

I use the SWmotech on my crash bars. I have one on each side. They just finished an 8,000km trek to the north and Arctic and honestly they are rugged and water proof.
Plenty of room for quick asses stuff. Such as I have tools and puncture kit in one and the other has first aid and survival stuff in it.3C8782E3-136C-4DA0-96C5-E9858363293D.jpeg6296962B-3F25-4670-9BEF-573BF5B68929.jpeg

Looking for a set of Crash bar bags to install onto my Outback motortek crash bags: my objective is to have my rain gear readily available to me. Any ideas would be appreciated - thanks
Hi,
I crashed on my crash bar bags and tore up the bag and most of the stuff inside. Just saying.

I was going to mention this. I used to have a Ram mount cup holder on my upper crash bars, convenient as hell until I realized that if the bike tipped over on that side, the cup holder would probably bust the upper plastics and punch out the radiator.

If you strap stuff to crash bars, just be sure to eyeball it real good to make sure it's not strapped on to a contact point.

I recall an ongoing debate on here a few years ago from someone who wanted to strap extra gas cans to his crash bars, and couldn't accept the idea that doing that might be a bad idea.

The only thing in my crash bar bags are two sets of raingear and a pair of mini jumper cables. I'd never put anything in them that was fragile or expensive. Or explosive.

I remember that, because I'd debated doing the same thing. But sanity prevailed (on my part) and I strapped the extra gas on the back for my trip that year. ;)

I can see it being a fleeting thought; after all, it's a big piece of available real estate to store stuff. The logical thought progression though, is "big can of flammable/explosive liquid, of which I'm in very close proximity, will be the first thing that makes contact when I go into a slide after hitting wet leaves in a curve". And, since gas cans aren't made of adamantium, it seemed like a logical conclusion that the impact and friction of the slide might make the gas inside the can become the gas outside the can, at which point you'd be wearing it.

As far as concepts go, it sounds like it was cooked up by OceanGate.

... for a small subset it's more like: "It's already hard to ride the thing like a motard with my leg out & forward due to the huge bloody crash-bars, I can't sacrifice more space there".
