I have ridden in sand like this…really fun! Always make sure you know whats on the other side of the dune before charging it. Or it could be a big drop off and a long way down! ::001::

I've ridden in this kind of sand (silt), maybe even this very spot.

No need to ask if that's me in the photo. Any photos of me in this stuff would show me laying on my ass. No!!!! It's not fun. God, I hated that crap. ::007::

Did this same thing on the Tenere in Utah this last summer.... Holy cow that's dusty..... Almost busted my butt several times,,, there were a few spots that were 2nd gear at 6500 rpm's just trying not to get stuck.... Lots and lots of this.......... ::26::

Good times ::008::

When I was [much] younger...roosted a few dunes and dry river beds in the desert southwest.

The 'ol YZ250 two-stroke was just right, can't imagine doing it on anything heavier!

Me too! Been a long time. Rode Pismo beach CA a lot in the 80's on the old 74 mx250, then moved to Oregon and bought a 1990 cr500. Split my time on the honda between the eastern oregon desert, and Florence, on the coast. Throw a paddle tire on a cr500, and it's more fun than you can believe on the dunes!

Mucho fun on a 700 Raptor. Had plenty of good kicks with that beastie, figured it was somebody elses turn. Traded it in on the S10 and began a new phase.
Will always have fond memories of being a sandaholic. Just not quite enough of it in this neck of the woods.

I think I have ridden that section of road as part of the UTBDR but I did not know it had its own name so thanks for the links. It is definitely a must see area!

My photo is from a bit north of there a bit off of the lock Hart Basin Rd. 95 degrees and sand sure make for a tiring day.

That sand matches your Tenere nicely. Like a glamour shot.
