I sent that video to a a friend of mine who has a KTM 950SM, He called me to plan for a test drive on the Triumph 800, we went, but little that I knew, I was just about to turn into a guinea pig ::013:: .
He said that the bike was smooth, but couldn't clutch wheelie it in second gear, on his KTM he can do it in forth gear ::019::, the bike is nothing like the one on the video. I took it for a spin and the first thing I didn't like was the back part of the seat, felt like a peace of wood, I think it was the front part of the rear seat. It felt different then the Tenere, smoother engine, maybe was because I wasn't used to it, but I like cornering with a Tenere better.
I'm not much into trying different bikes all the time, after I tried the Triumph 800 for a few minutes I was happy to ride mine, also because my friend was riding mine wile I was on the triumph
.
He claims he has clutched wheelie my Tenere in 2 and 3 gear, I told him a few times that I'm happy to hear it, but no more clutch wheelies on my bike.
Then he decided to take the Ducati 1199 Panigale for a test drive, I took the Explorer 1200, now, this thing has power and sounds much better then the 800. Up in front of me all I could see was wheelies ;D , when we stopped he tels me that he steel prefers the power of his KTM and that the new Ducati engine is not like the Street Fighter he had before. He tried the Explorer and really liked it, but doesn't like it that much to have to pay what they want for it.
After that he wanted to try the Multistrada, I said OK I'll take the KTM 990 Adventure, we swapped bikes again and at the end my test sensors wore already a bit worn out
, I realise one thing, they are all great just for having 2 wheels. There are some differences, some prettier then others, some maybe too pretty for what one wants to do with it, some faster, for what I want to do my Tenere is fat enough. I was happy to leave the store with a heated vest to enjoy my Tenere. One bike in this family of bikes I haven't tried is the BMW 1200GS, maybe I'll wait for the new liquid cooled.
I think my friend has a problem
, he had 8 different bikes in one year, funny that he has found the bike he enjoys (KTM 950SM) the most and for the fist time he's having a hard time finding a replacement ::025:: .
