Conti TCK80 wear

Hey 'yall,

What kind of freeway wear are you getting out of your TCK's? Looking at a tire comparison in the BMW magazine they claim a 60% wear after 1000 miles (from 10mm to 4mm of tread left). That seems a bit drastic - a friend has a GSA and losses only 1mm of tread every 1000miles.

Any other experiences?

Based on my past experience (none with the Tenere yet), I would be suprised to make a rear last beyond 4000 miles.

A friends Beemer gets around 3500.

I've gotten a best of 5000 miles off a rear. It was destroyed by then. I'd say, for me, an average is about 4000 miles.

Well, much better than any street tire.

I've used a couple of sets on various bikes and get about 3.5K out of a rear.

Heading to Mexico and probably going to go K60 back and TKC front.

TKC or otherwise, I get about double the mileage out of a front as a rear on the S10, although I seldom run the front down as far because the handling gets so sketchy.

Untill you run it hard in corners. I know it's popular, I've tried it. I myself won't do that again. I personally like a match set of K60's.
