I'm riding the COBDR in 5 weeks so hoping most of this year's late snowfall is gone. But of course it will be melting so we're expecting our fair share of mud and stream crossings to keep things interesting. Can't wait.

My wife enjoys camping as much as I do, so no camping on this trip.

Had a very close encounter with a bison the other day. He was standing on the side of the road, took one look at me riding up and totally freaked. Just took off running. Fortunately not towards me. Got it with the helmet cam.

To bad you can't get to the top of Mt Evans, I heard today because of the late spring snows this year, it may not open until July 4th.

The bike portion of this adventure was ended this morning on I 90 in Minnesota when Bambi committed suicide by jumping in front of my bike while I was doing 75 mph.
No riders were injured. DM was slightly terrified watching it happen right in front of her. Bambi never took another step.
Radiator lost the contents on the side if the road.

Let the Uhauling portion of the adventure begin.

Thank God neither of you were hurt. The bike can be replaced/repaired. Bummer your trip cut was short.

::012:: that is funny.

Thanks, guys... and yes Snake, I understand and appreciate it.

I gotta tell you, given a choice between hitting a deer at high speed and riding along in a rented Uhauling on these rough Iowa roads, I'm not sure what is more rough. But DM is at the wheel and that makes her happy.

I'd be stunned if it is totalled. But my wife did say the same thing about getting a new one.

This will be a real testimonial for Caribou /Pelican cases. Wife said mine went cartwheel ing down the road a long way. It had my MS 3 Pro computer inside. Case never broke opon and the computer is no worse for wear.

I also had a cable lock between the handle of the case and the bike grab handle. Been using as a helmet lock. Cable lock shattered and broke. Case handle is just fine. Tough case.

Thanks, Harrison. I'm fine.

Glad to hear you are okay.
Sounds like your trip was about over anyway, It's always nice to come back home in one peace even if it is in a truck.

Bummer about the bike Jon and really glad that you two are OK. Watching that damned deer come into you is the most aweful slow motion thing in the world, isn't it?

Slow motion...not really. My wife yelled deer over the bluetooth , one second later I saw it two steps from me. No time to do anything.

I'm at total peace with the event. We were in get home mode, just hitting highways and putting in the last 1200 miles.

I would never want this to happen, but it reminds me of my flying days when we would get stranded for whatever reason. didn't plan to get stuck, but I always loved the 100% change of plans. Figure out what to do and execute something completely different on the spot. Today was the same. New scenario, what to do, execute. DM had this idea, it was better than mine.

Bob, DM has mentioned you swiss cheese model seveal times today. Most all the holes lined up, just the bike didn't want to go down.
