Clutch lever question?

I've just got my 2014ZE Super Tenere back from having bits greased.... it is on 5000 miles and the findings are as follows

Head bearings- Top one had grease , bottom one had no grease
Wheel spindles-no grease
rear shock linkages, a little play :'( and no grease
Rear drive shaft- no grease
Swing arm bearings -no grease

So that has all been remedied.... sounds like they were having a bit of an off day at the factory :-X

So onto the clutch.... my man said he wasn't happy with the feel of the clutch.... when you pull it in there is a bit of a click on the first bit of the pull and it doesn't feel smooth... he was wondering if the clutch mechanism was short of grease as well, but he didn't want to pull it to pieces in case it is a warranty issue.....

Is that click on the first part of the clutch pull normal ??

Thanks folks ::003::

My 2014ES/ZE is coming up 5k too. There is just the slight click from the micro-switch/side stand interlock, but nothing significant. However, I can tell the lever isn't returning quite as freely as it should, so the pivot needs lubing.

Does that coincide with your findings? Anything more than this has to be a job for the dealer if you still have some warranty.

Sounds like they had run short of grease that Friday afternoon - maybe I need to get mine checked at the next service for peace of mind.

Thanks for that Ken, that sounds like what I'm getting, but I think it will be worth asking the dealer to check before the warranty is gone next month

At 15K my clutch lever was actually hanging up a bit on release. I disassembled it and found no apparent lubricant present. The little brass "puck" that receives the end of the master cylinder push rod was extremely tight, almost to the point of seizing. Had Yamaha not used dissimilar materials here it would surely have seized. The pivot bolt and bushing were also found to be dry. Not a big job to disassemble and lube it yourself. Some discussion on what to use, but any good high pressure grease such as wheel bearing grease will do.
