I am sure many of us have read of the issue that has shown up on some of the other XT12s around the world with a leaking clutch cover gasket caused by a dowel pin that appears to be too long.
As the gasket compresses the leak becomes apparent.

Here is a post from Rocca showing the #5 dowel pin:

I am just wondering if the issue has been addressed on the USA and Canada bikes or if this will be an issue that we need to address on our own or possibly through a service bulletin from Yamaha to our dealers?
Has anyone heard anything more on this issue?

No, I haven't heard anything other than what was reported. doesn't seem like a major issue though. If it happens to me, it'll be a warranty item or I'll fix it myself by grinding down the dowels a little to make room and install a new gasket. done.

Is there a Warrantly Letter or Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) released for this issue?

Not that I have seen. That is why I was bringing it up here. It may have been addressed with our bikes already and a non issue. I doubt it though as the time from when it was reported on AdvRider and the Dutch forum our parts were probably already made.

I read the issue on Advrider..... It will seep probably worst with synthetic oil like most metrics do... Unless mine becomes an 'issue' im just gunna keep an eye on it... When the gaskets are available its easy to take off and take a hair off the pins... They are guide pins..

Does anyone know if its only on a certain VIN sequence ?

I just saw a leak on my clutch cover last night. Don't know anymore than that right now. I've still got 3 months left on the basic warrenty, but l'd like to fix it myself if it's simple.

I wouldn't argue that synthetic oil won't leak from a clutch or brake system, in fact it will ruin every seal in the system and will cause hundreds of dollars in damage. 90% of juice clutch systems including the s10 use brake fluid not oil, the seals are not compatable with any petroleum products.

What does this have to do with a leaking clutch cover?
