Clutch & brake lines, bleeding?

Thinking about 2" Rox pivot risers and with my Flexx bars it will most likely be too much tension on the clutch & brake lines so I probably will need aftermarket hoses.

How long lines in total do I need or how much longer than stock.

Someone said there is no need to bleed the lines, is that right?

Cheers.

If you're opening up the hydraulic system and changing lines, you're going to need to bleed them to get the air out.

No experience with the risers and bars, can't offer any insight there.

I'm about there too, but if you change the lines you will definitely have to bleed the system. Not having done it on this bike yet, I'm not sure of the tips or tricks. Some bikes like the Bavarian ones require special tools to bleed the ABS modules. I don't know about Yamahammers.

nothing to it.
Same as a non abs bike
use the old fashioned way, or a vacuum pump.

I've been doing searches and there's a post saying not to bleed brakes as usual because
you don't want to get any air into your integrated / abs doohickey . Clutch can be bled
as normal . With the front brake the air needs to be coaxed out through the master cylinder.

If you're talking about long lines, not true.

Thanks guys. I believe my Flexx handlebars is a bit taller than stock so I do not think I get away with stock lines.

Looked att Rideon adv (Jaxon`s site) and he got lines that do not need bleeding :-?

How about the Rox risers with inserts so you can fit both 7/8 and/or 1 1/8 which would be great if you got another bike with 7/8 (our XT1200 is 1 1/8 I believe)?

Cheers!

Correct - you do not need to "bleed", in the traditional sense, rideonadv's lines. You can if you want, but not necessary.

These lines just replace the rubber lines going from your reservoirs to the hard lines giving you the extra length for risers. Go out and trace the rubber lines starting at the reservoirs on your bike and you'll see the junction to the hard lines (and what I mean).

By nature of air always rising in fluid, once you get the new long lines bolted up, all you need to do is add small amounts of fluid while you're depressing the levers until they firm up and no teeeny bubbles come up anymore.

Maybe took 5 minutes per side till all the small bubbles quit coming up through the reservoir...

Too easy!
Still contemplating if there is a need for 2" rise, do not want it to be a chopper having said that I ride with the seat in tallest position 95%of the time and sometimes stand up when going "off road", the Rox pivot risers can be angled in many variations so maybe the 2" rise is not too bad.

It doesn't give the ape hanger look at all - it looks 100% normal. I can actually bend my arms standing now and you're right they can pivot to accommodate whatever fits your eye/arms...

Cool, like the adjustability. Promised not to spend anymore for a year but promise already broken a few times the last weeks, might as well continue spending.. when/if it comes to trading in the bike in the future many parts can be removed and transfered to another bike so it is not a complete waste of money besides a passion is almost price less :)
