Did mine this morning. Took just over an hour as I took pictures too.
Re-used gasket, new nut.
Rode 30+ miles. The 'growl' I heard / felt between 2800 and 3200 is gone. ::008::

Here you go.

Bike on side stand, did not remove skid plate.

Side cover removed

Un-staked and removed the nut. Yamaha provides a nice place in the frame for a tool rest.

Small parts.

Big parts.

Basket removed

Torque it up

Sorry, that's all I have. The 3 other assembly photos are out of focus.

3 of the 6 springs in my old clutch basket were loose and rattling when I did my swap. Did anyone else notice this?

I got mine installed today and what an incredible improvement. I may be just imagining things, but even think that extra pound of basket mass makes for easier ridability at low revs.

I'm looking forward more to the extra spinning mass than the vibe reduction actually. Great to hear you actually noticed it.

Thank you Stadium Yamaha!!

For sticking to the price at the time of order!! Less than $40 and it arrived today. Now I have to order the cover gasket (it's been off twice already), nut, EBC tool, etc. Looking forward to the change. Thanks to those who posted photo's of the swap.

That's the line all service personnel have poured into their brain... "Oh, that's normal, they all do that". ::010::

Installed my new basket today and all the vibs around 3000 and up seem to be gone. I'm going on a trip in 2 weeks so I'll see how it under a load.

Could you explain that answer in a little detail? This is the first time I ever heard that.
Well, my understanding is that the three yellow loose springs are the phase 2 springs, and the three blue springs are the phase 1. I think it's not uncommon in a spring dampened basket for the springs beyond phase 1 to fit loose, since the gear has to deflect a little bit against the phase 1 springs before they even come into contact with the next phase. I don't believe having loose springs is a fault, and also don't think it was the direct cause of the vibration in our baskets. That's just the way my simple mind understands it though, maybe the clutch experts can verify this for me...

This video was posted waaaaaay back in the vibration discussions, and made more sense to me than anything I've seen.

I've had my cover off twice, and both times had the gasket tear, no matter how carful I was. Portions of the gasket would always tear away and stay stuck to the case, or the cover. For less than 20 bucks, it's worth having the new gasket on hand.
I have used a product called Sil-Glyde for clutch cover gaskets. A thin coat on both sides keeps it from sticking. It allows multiple re-use of the expensive gasket. It works well for re-assembly of hoses too and they slide right on.
