Having ridden my 2012 for 32,000+ miles and now my 2014 for 2300+miles, I can tell that it is not the character of the engine, rather, it is the character of the clutch basket. The 2014 is a refined version of the previous models and to me, the new clutch basket is the best refinement.AndyCBR said:Darn I missed out on the discount pricing.
I'll be interested to see if 2012 owners notice a change after install.
My bike is a little vibey but never bothered me just felt like it was the character of the engine.
Being that it's basically 2 600 thumpers side by side it's gonna shake a little.
Cool that those who jumped on the deal had the initial pricing honored.
See replies #154 and 168 in this thread. It appears that rubber dampers were used in the redesigned basket to replace the springs in the original design.triman11427 said:Weren't there rubber dampers added in the 2014 model clutch? Or is it just the redesigned basket that was changed?

Aha, so they cleverly sandwiched the rubber between the plates. I was wondering about that back in June.fredz43 said:Here is an illustration:
I have a 2012 with a 2014 clutch basket. It was an instant improvement (at least for my bike) as all the mechanical vibration went away. Now it's just normal twin cylinder engine "character" (not calling it vibration anymore) which is smoother than the other twins that I've owned. On a scale of 1-10 for improvement with 10 being the best, I give it an 11.AndyCBR said:Darn I missed out on the discount pricing.

fredz43, that cover / damper is on the other side and I did not disassemble it. Since the clutch basket was such a direct replacement, I just swapped it out and left everything else the same. So far I've got 1000 miles on it with no issues but will go to the dealer and look at their service guide to try and get an idea of the difference. I can't think of anything that would create a problem by leaving it, so doubt I will change anything unless you see that there is a potential for a problem.fredz43 said:AlsoRan, here is another pic from the 2014 XTZ12EE Service Guide that was sent to dealers (not the service manual) It shows a damper and cover that were eliminated. Do you recognize these? Did you remove anything like this, or just install the new basket?
Thanks.
AlsoRan, if your dealer is unfamiliar with this latest Service Guide, tell him that it has been posted to YDS.AlsoRan said:fredz43, that cover / damper is on the other side and I did not disassemble it.
