Hi all,

My S10 has started having start problems. Intermittently I get the click from the solenoid but the starter fails to turn then suddenly the starter motor clicks in.

Doesn't happen all the time and the bty is always fully charged anyone got an idea?

Probably a bad battery. Fully charged means nothing. Have it load tested. That is the only way you know it has the power to turn the starter.

Turns the motor no problems then 1 in 10 starts the dash lights come on and you get either no click or the solenoid click then after a couple of attempts she fires up! Strange!

A bad battery can also do that. Basically its a connection problem, or sounds like it. I would check and make sure that all connections to the battery is good, but you could also have a broken connection inside the battery. Basically, as draw increases the ability for the broken connection to provide the desired amps decreases. If you place a voltmeter on the battery when this occurs, you can watch the voltage drop. If you have anything below 10.5v, it likely needs replacement. If it shows 12.6 with no load, and drops below 9.5 while cranking, it is likely a bad cell.
