Well, considering I just paid in full for my ST 10 non ES today, that was pleasant reading. Especially since I saved myself well over 11 grand over the Beemer doing so.

'nice piece, 'been awhile since I've seen an S10 write up anywhere. 'Not sure what the problem with keyed case release was (why put it in a hard case if you are not going to lock it?) but I like that 'unassuming' bit, I think it fits. A lot of bikes are all about look-at-me showmanship- the logo, the chrome, the oh-so pricey carbon fiber or tungsten bits. The S10 is not bad to look at but its all about business not appearance. It goes about doing just about anything in a non-demanding, unassuming way.

Yeah, I don't know what the big deal was about requiring a key to open the boxes. Never opened mine without being off of the bike, with the key in my hand. Also, the boxes will stay shut even when they're not locked. The very first time/day I used them, I did not push down on the box while locking it. Drove around for some time, at highway speeds. Got home and found they were shut, but not locked. That just shows how spoiled we have become with new "stuff". It wasn't all that long ago when a car trunk needed a key to open it.

My Caribou (Pelican) cases require a key every time I need to open them......its not that big-a-deal.
