Chinese Tourances

I have just bought a pair of Tourances mail order here in the U.K. and they were delivered today,i gave the a check over and noticed they were made in China when i would have expected them to have been made in Germany,anyone had any experience with thses Chinese Tourances?

I got a set a few years ago for my Strom and didn't notice they were made in China till i got the second one mounted. I was not happy! After looking on a few forums I found I was not alone and their attitude was as bad or worse than mine. Those tires were on the bike when I sold it and I didn't have any problems with them.

Yes... I used to love the Tourances and got decent miles out of them. Then all of a sudden I didn't and couldn't understand why. They too were the ones made in China. I got 1/2 the miles out of them and well the just didn't inspire the confidence that I felt from the ones made in Germany. I stopped buying them. Sorry but that was my experience. I hope you have better luck than I.

Friend that rides a 800GS has been using Tourances and says he is satisfied with them, but I don't know where his were made.

Similar story to Brick above. Loved the original Tourance then made in Germany. Them came the Chineese ones. Half the mileage and half the grip. Rubbish. :'(

I :have the chinese tourance on bike now ... DONT like Them , feels like not so mutch pavement grip , and ware down faster ...
Have hade Metzeler the last years ( change tyres every sesong .. ) ... now I am testing Hidenau K76 instead

I call shenanigans. There is no way that Michelin is allowing tires to be made to different specs depending on which factory is manufacturing them. There is nothing inherently wrong with anything specifically because it's made in China.

Stop being so silly; your bike has a pile of stuff made in China on it. Everyone's does.

If you are speaking from experience please enlighten us otherwise we do'nt need a marketing speel.
Speaking from my own experience of Chinese Tourance, I would not put them on a wheelbarrow and it is not "being silly" when my life is at stake.

Vhina may have the Michelin specs as to constructing the tires, but that does not mean that they are using the same materials. For those of you that are old enough to remember when Japanese stuff was subpar. Just saying. ::021::

While I'm a bit old school, cuz I am just old, I am like most Americans that can get a bit squeamish when I'm being pressured to purchase items that have switched to "made in China". I'd just rather not, if I have an alternative.

Having said that, I am certain that there are many products manufactured there that are a match, or competitively equal, but I have no reliable source of information that I can turn to know when\what it is.

So I hope my reluctance wouldn't be considered an over reaction. Or some kind of unfair prejudice. It's Chinese manufacturing's responsibility to change their image.
No different than other countries that navigated through the process.

I installed a new rear Tourance on my '13 S10 that was made in China and less than 4900 miles later it was worn out. I have used many a Tourance (both the regular and the EXP) since riding to Alaska on Tourances in 1999.
Never again will a Chinese made Tourance soil the wheels of my S10.

My mate experienced the same thing on his 1150Gs and a horrible experience with handling!

My Torrance NEXT tires are made in Germany. You get a rebate on them in March and April.
