Well been lurking here for a few weeks now looking into the forums to see how everyone feels about the bike and how well it is to maintain and lessons learned before I pulled the trigger. I was looking at putting a deposit on the new FZ-09 for a few weeks then went to the local dealer to kick tires and spotted a lonely 2013 S10. I asked what the price was OTD and he said around $15,700 out the door, I told him thanks and I would think about it. Then the search for another one at a reasonable price started. I found a grey (fastest color) 2013 at a dealer about an hour away that wants $12,545 out the door with no dealer freight fees, no dealer set-up fees, and no dealer prep fees. I'm picking it up on Saturday. I'l post some pics to prove it happened!

Welcome aboard. There are a few of us who commute into DC with them.

Well I spoke to soon while I was out having dinner the salesman called and told me they sold it from under him he said he had a blue 2012 in stock still and it was $300 cheaper. I told him I would think about it, didn't really want a blue one and one that was two years old. (Kind of pissed they sold it) I asked him if he was getting another one in he said probably not. He also thinks the pre-orders will be before the March timeframe. I guess I'll wait it out if he can't do better on the 12 or gets a 13 in. I still have two other bike to ride in the meantime.

Oh man that sucks! I would really be pissed. Price seemed low for a 2013 and right for the 2012. I bet he mis quoted you.

Welcome.

Sounds like you found Romney Cycles. Good dealer, I bought both my Teneres from them. They will keep their word on whatever they told you.

I'd say get whatever color makes you happy. Doesn't matter which year. They are exactly the same. You'll want to keep this bike forever, so the model year is unimportant 10 years from now.

Yep George at Romney, you make a good point bike is the same and the price is pretty good. Ahh this is killing me.

No offense, but I kinda don't get it.

You obviously love to ride on 2 wheels. If not, there would be no torment.
Next, you seem to have your heart set on a specific ride. (Super Tenere. Very specific, in fact. There really isn't another bike THAT similar)
So you have overcome the biggest obstacle.........Knowing what you actually want.

Color? It's paint.
+ or - a few $'s? The farkles will dwarf the difference.

Minor issues, at this point.

Missing that ADV ride this fall? Now THAT's a potential regret. If not, it should be.
There is some view out there that you are supposed to have seared into your memory. Some meal that you are supposed to delight at finding. Some fellow ADV mate you are supposed to meet and share a story with.

Don't miss any of it for paint! :)

Bravo!

I hope you bond with this bike half as much as I have with mine. It's 2-wheel nirvana.

Welcome aboard mayassa. I commute on my bike from NOVA into DC almost every day. It's been a stellar bike. I regret that I haven't been able to do much else with it during that time, but it is still a hoot to ride. If you ask me, the Blue is the better color bike anyways!

Welcome on, mayassa. Yeah, that was a bit rude to sell the bike out from under you. But, and let's not let this get around, the BLUE bike is pretty well just as mighty fine as the very slightly superior GRAY one. OH, OK ... it's just as good. I sure hope Camshaft and Cooper don't see this. I think you made the right decision. Covered in mud, they all look the same. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

For what it's worth, there's a grey one at Fredericksburg Motor Sports. Not sure about the price, but may be worth a phone call.
I bought mine there last November and at a pretty fair price.
