Hello,
Please let me introduce myself - I'm a 40 ('ish) Dane living in Copenhagen. 4 years ago I finally took the plunge and bought the bike of my dreams from when I was young(er), a VFR750 from 96. Oh boy, did I love that bike. She was totaled after a minor disagreement with a little sand in a parking lot. Did about 20km/h and all plastic was broken, unfortunately my right foot broke as well.
Bought a VFR800 instead. Love that bike as well. But I wanted something with a more relaxed rider position, able to do really long hauls, and I really really wanted to do some riding in remote locations with bad or no pavement.
I was considering the baby Ténéré for a loooong time, but I just couldn't get my head around that it only has 48Hp, and seems a bit small for my 192cm and 100 ('ish) kg. My luck that I waited, because all of a sudden I stumbled upon a low mileage Super Ténéré just within my range - financially wise. Mind you, that here in Denmark there is a 180% tax on cars and motorcycles ...
The Super Ténéré has been the bike of my dreams for a long time, but just seemed too bloody expensive for me, and it is just everything I need and like in a bike. I will keep it for a long time.
I have been doing almost all my transportation on my bike, since getting the first one 4 years ago, and being divorced, my now 9 year old daughter gets to ride a lot of S10 as well. She loves being a pillion, loves that her friends and teachers think it's über cool but hates to the bone that she has to wear all the safety equipment all the time.
I love having her as a pillion as well - we have a lot of really fun conversations since talking is just about the only thing she can do while riding.
I spend a lot of time washing and polishing my bikes - actually I taught another member, Don T, everything he knows about keeping his bikes clean ;-)
