the local Bike shop is clearing out all of its tyres that have been sitting around to long, I found two Metzeler Tourance 150/70 rears for $50 each, I have never run these tyres before, So if anyone can tell me if they are a good tyre or not would be much appreciated, they are brand new still with labels on them.
Cheers Phil

The Metzeler Tourance is what my '12 XTZ came with from the dealer... 10% off road tire that I got about 10,000 miles out of. A comfortable tire and that is a great price.

Not sure on how good of a shelf life tires have; I've heard that the newer the tire the better. May want to watch the tire for odd wear or cracking and don't over pressure above the recommend psi/bar rating.

The Metzeler Tourance, the original version with separate blocks, not the EXP, is a very solid choice for dual-sports bikes. I used them to my full satisfaction on Triumph Tigers and BMW R1200GSA. I don't see how you wouldn't like them. And at $50 they are a steal.

went to pick them up today but the bloke who said they were $50 wasn't there and the women that was there told me he made a mistake ::010:: (should have got them yesterday) and tells me they are $100 so I still got them they were order for someone that never picked them up about 11 months ago, she also told me her buy price was $200 and they retail for about $270, always wanted to know how much markup was on tyres now I know.
All in all they were still a good buy, I wont have to buy a new rear tyre for about 30,000 km now have to be happy with that :)

pretty decent on the road, dunno about offroad.

They are one of those tyres I would not buy at full whack as tyres have moved on in the last 5 years or so, but certainly happy enough riding a bike with them on, or if the price was right (about half the cost of the latest and greatest) I would probably consider it a good deal. Mrs Wee-Strom has these on and I will be buying it off her as my commuter and will be more than happy to wear my way through them.
