Low cost lid protectors, Reese Towpower Sure Step Self-Stick Rubber Mat, 2pk = $7.99 for both sides. Walmart, Autozone, and others sell this item. Just cut it in half for the Yamaha OEM panniers or leave it in one piece for others. As you can see this is thick stuff, better and much cheaper then TechSpec IMHO.

Great idea! How strong is the adhesive?
I was actually looking for something similar for the underside of my pannier for when I take it off & use it as a camp seat.

Nice find. In addition to the tops of the bags I will also use this on the plastic under the pillion seat to give a better surface for my tent bag etc to lay so it won't move around when packed for a trip. ::008::

I'm definitely stealing that idea. Where did you find the tie-down loops?

Best place for the tie downs is a Marine parts store 'on line'.. They will have the nice stainless ones... Other wise you can find something similar at Home Depot or Lowes...

You guys are so clever. If I saw that product when I walked by I wouldn't have the creativity for this idea. And it fits the adventure look perfect.

This forum never ceases to amaze.

I really like the underneath the pannier too for protection when off the bike.

Camtex, thanks for the tip on this stuff. I installed on top of my OEM Bags and then did under the seat and also did the rack. Did not see the point of adding an Altrider rack or similar on top of the existing piece under the pillion plus buying an extension. For $25 I have the bags protected and a large area for a roll top bag and camping gear. looks agressive and fits the look of the Bike, especially with my K60's now installed. ::013::
In progress...end of rack is now also complete.
