Good points. Some of the same things I noted and liked about the Globe Scouts. I like the burly latches.
Seems like the Jesses have quite a few fans. So, I took a look at their site, and and honestly… I don't like the look of them and did see anything that would make them substantially better than some of the other high-end panniers. Also the shape reminds me too much of mini-coffins. For me aesthetics are a small factor in my decision was well as function.
I also watched a video of some guy who crashed on them and another guy was standing on the bike, kicking the crap out of them to get them working again, I guess to show how tough they were. Well, I thought cool, but those cases are probably done, sure they can use them again to get "home"… but I didn't think it really proved to me that they were necessarily better…
Someone in an earlier post, stated they wouldn't buy a pannier/case that had rivets and or the plastic bits on the corner…. Cool, to each his own, Peace. But when I look at the vast majority of Panniers, they seem to have rivets and plastic on the corners. I personally think the plastic corners are there to protect the corners like people putting sliders on their bikes…
So for me the Globe Scouts are still on the top of my list.

I looked at the Jesse's and one thing i didn't like was the fact they opened from the inside out. The globes open front to back or back to front which is a plus in my opinion. We had a few things tied on the back of the cases and when we stopped to open the cases we could just open from the front. If they opened from the inside out we would of had to untie and then open the case which would of blown. The globes have nice latches as well as tie down anchors on all 4 corners which come in handy. The other thing i liked about the globes was they look like a great technical/engineered piece as compared to most others. I find the Jesse to be a big block of mass that look horrible mounted on the S10.
Other things i like about the globes is the top nets and globe inner bags, well thought out and function great when removing stuff from the cases to take into the room for the night. The latches are excellent and robust. I can't say enough about the Hepco Becker racks. Love the fact 3 quarter turn fasteners and the two inner case latches and the side cases are off and sitting on the shelf. Excellent design !
Riveted or welded ? Last time i checked airplanes were riveted and not welded, doesn't mean much imo. Take it for what its worth, my post count is low ha ha !
