I'd got wind of these from the big S10 thread on Advrider early Jan and thought at the price I'd take a gamble http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271379091996?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D271379091996%26_rdc%3D1 item no 271379091996
They arrived this morning (pics to follow) and they do look rather nice on the outside. Inside they appear that they maybe plain fiberglass matt with a carbon skin but given that I got both for less than a 1/3 of one Genuine World Crosser panel I'm not complaining. Deliver took a while ~20days and they need some light tweaks to mount the oem plastic grills and panels. I fitted some small bolts with spacers to the plastic bits which I then expoxied the head of the bolts to the carbon panels to act as studs with duct tape to hold it all together while it cured (still going off as I type hence waiting sort out pics sans duct tape).
Overall for the price I'm impressed as it would have cost more in bits to replicate than these were (though if you have access to decent raw materials then this may not be true for you).

Once the epoxy has gone off (and the missus has gone back to work!) I'll mount these up and post the pics :)

Those look very nice. Your post inspired me to look into something like that, and I am taking it one step cheaper. I found one of those vehicle wrap companies in town - the kind that puts advertising graphics all over trucks, etc. - and they said they could wrap each side cover in carbon fiber looking wrap for $60 each. I am going to take the two side covers, the exhaust heel guard, and the headlight bezel to them this morning for wrapping.

Hopefully they turn out well.

That looks quite nice . I've been down that road before and
its a slippery slope . Next maybe a front fender , headlight
surround or dash panel ? For me it didn't stop until I had
BST wheels . I'm not traveling that road again ::025::

Nice concept, just too shiny. I wouldn't want to have anything shiny on my bike.

I just got my carbon-look wrapped pieces back, and mounted them right away. I have to say that they did a really good job, and for a total price of $220, I am very happy. I did the two side panels, the heel guard at the pipe, and the headlight bezel. The overall pic does not show them real well, so I took a pic of each piece.

Here you go.

They look like they been well wrapped. Trying not to teach granny to suck eggs but just in case if you want to remove the wrap care is needed not to pull the paint off the panel esp if they used a 3M wrap as it sticks like poo to a blanket .

Very nice looking Macca. I'm sure I'd jinx myself if I added them, dropping the bike the next time I took it offroad.... ::)

Wow, the wrap looks great. I'm thinking of doing that over the winter…

I've just bought a set of the carbon side panels. I shall update with a review when they arrive, hopefully in less than 20 days !
