Just did the math and realized I have invested more than $5,000.00 USD on this bike in accessories. "Holy Crap Batman". This just slipped up on me. If I had realized the cost of customizing this bike I would have stuck with my KLR!

However now that it's done I do not regret a penny I have spent! This bike rocks!

Rule #1 - never add the cost of accessories.

If this was Zombieland, rule #1 would be cardio but, since it's Super Tenere world it's the above!!!!!

This is especially important for us married folk!!

Know the rules!!!!!

Damn, thats a lot! I have been getting all the little things while I save up for the bigger stuff. Just order my first pricey Farkle, the Alt Rider Luggage Rack. Up next are Panniers, Top Case, and a GPS. It does not help that Touratech and AltRider send you VERY nice order catalogs that sit on the coffee table calling my name to read through them and spend money ::010::

My total farkle bill came in at $3300 and I'm done ..unless I decide to do the ECU reflash which will cost another $450.

I've spent nothing extra on this bike, not a thing.

All those 'extra' bits came with it, honest.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

The only problem I had with waiting 7months for delivery :'( My farkle pile & corresponding invoices grew weekly >:D Took almost a full day to install everything. BUT, I could honestly tell my wife "really dear, it's had all this stuff on it since I started riding it O:)
Made sure I never added up those bills though ::008::

Lets see, a slightly used Cal Sci large windshield for about $65 less than full price shipped, a SW-Motech skid plate, $250sumthin, 153 Givi crash bars. Almost 500 and all I really need next is a set of luggage to get the bare necessities done. Now for a sub 1000 Caribou set or 1500 Touratech? Will probably go with the $1100 Holan set. In line for a mid April shipment. 1600 bucks not too bad ...yet..but I want.......

Does anyone know of a help line for farkle addiction? Thinking I need to check in for rehab. I admit "I am a Farkleholic". Reminiscent of Little Shop of Horrors, The bike keeps saying "Farkle me!". It's insatiable.

I've done my best to re-use things I already own, but I did spring for the Altrider crash bars, and an MRA screen, and the Givi sidecase racks. Almost all the other farkles are used. But the farkle addiction continues. Last week I ordered a tire pressure monitoring system - it's for safety, so it doesn't count, right? Right?

And the gear, sheesh, the gear. No matter how much gear I buy, or how expensive it is, I want more. There is no gear perfect enough to stop me from wanting more.

Ah yes, I can still remember the day when I first told my wife about all the money I would save on commuting if I had a motorcycle.....

Seems to be working out well for you. I'm sure there's a 12 step program for you somewhere.
