Hello everyone! My name is Ryan, and I live in Calgary, AB. I've been riding dirt/singletrack for 10+ years on various KTM bikes with my family, and recently I decided to take the plunge and get myself a proper adventure bike. I found a great deal on a beautiful '12 Super Tenere recently and I'm picking it up tomorrow. Very excited to get a feel for it and to get into some touring.

My buddy and I are planning a trip through the Western US and West Coast over several weeks next spring/summer, and I think the Tenere will be more than capable of handling it. I'm brand new to any sort of street riding and touring and don't really know much about it, so I'm here to learn everything I can about my bike and how to get the most out of it.

Thanks everyone!

hello from Calgary.

We're off to the coast via NW Washington, then returning via central BC.
Always a good time, on any bike.

Welcome. Do the Clutch Switch Mod for free horsepower. Easy and free.
Or don't, and you don't have to worry about pre-ignition when it gets hot in the Western US. The clutch jumper mod screws up the timing advance curve and is not a good idea in higher heat areas. I saw 108F today, I'll leave it stock, thanks very much. There is no free horsepower, just a very heavily advanced timing that makes it feel like it has more pep. Do a search and read the various arguments before you decide what you feel comfortable doing.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. ::013::

Great for an appliance, (cook and freeze with the new Froven-0-Matic! But wait, for only $9.99 more we'll throw in a set of Ginsu knives!!! ),bad for local weather. ;D

Just trying to suggest that the OP do his own research and make his own decision on the CJM. ::008::

Actually, with Goromatics (global warming) it's been great here.
I'm getting a solid 7 months road riding, then riding the dirt bike all winter (with studded tires)
